Start Jamming...
It's like a little house party on a Monday.
Hi, how are we doing?
How are we feeling?
A couple of glasses of wine, Monday.
Don't you guys have work or something?
I guess a lot of you work here.
A little buddy of mine.
Give it up.
Yeah.
And I mean, yeah, it's a weird thing to start one of these.
But I'm very excited to be here.
And I'm a storyteller, and I'm a musician.
And I go door to door talking about different things.
Some of it is about where we are politically.
It's a reflection of the time in which I'm making music in
and telling these stories in.
And then some of it is the heart and how these stimuli
and how this environment that's really unprecedented,
how these things affect us, and what are the forms of escape
that we turn to to numb some of the pain
that we're all walking with.
So I'm excited to be here.
I'm chilling really hard right now.
I love San Francisco, and I'm ready to sing
some songs for you.
A lot, if any of you are coming to the show tonight
or come to a show in general, it's
a lot different than this environment.
I don't really know how else to say it.
It gets a little rowdy.
But one of the beautiful things about telling stories
is watching them get told in different ways, I think.
And I think that that's the mark of a good story
is whether or not you can take away
a lot of these peripheral elements.
And if the story still rings true.
So with that said, I'm going to sing three songs
in a very different way than they were recorded.
And y'all are entitled to hate it or not give a fuck
or do whatever the fuck you want.
Because I don't care.
I'm going to sing my song.
That's what I got brought here to do.
Fuck, hey, fucks.
I'm going to do that shit.
So this first one is actually just a story that I told.
I went through this phase of the mark of a good story
is how much you can believe in the bad guy.
I really have this weird thing about bad guys,
especially in movies.
If I don't believe in a movie villain,
then the movie sucks for me.
And part of that is because that's human.
And I think that the older you get,
you start to realize a lot of these narratives
we craft for ourselves about what's right and wrong
are just that.
They're just stories.
And the more that we can bring empathy
into the public opinion.
And when we look at politicians we don't agree with
and policy changes.
And we look at who are the disenfranchised people that
believe in these stories.
And why are we not speaking for them in a way
that they are willing to go with what we think or something.
So with that in mind, I just wrote this story
about a guy who is thinking with the wrong head
and ends up in some trouble.
But doesn't mean to necessarily.
So [A] anyways, [Eb] I'm rambling [F] as I do.
