You may wonder how [C#] I ended up down here in Belize.
I know we've got a lot of people here that are
[G] guests of Captain Morgan's and don't know a hoot [B] about us.
So we'll tell you, we've been telling
you a little [D] bit about us and our songs but this [B] is my story about how I ended up down here.
I got a call one day in Houston from a guy that [C#] was entertainment director at Fido's and he found
me on some award music website and well you know what awards Larry [B] Joe Taylor says about awards
they don't mean crap unless you [N] win one.
Anyway he had found me on some country music website and
[A] called me about coming down [A#] here to play and I didn't know where Belize [B] was but next thing you
know I was getting off of a plane my bags were sitting in the sand I was getting on [D#] a golf cart
headed down the island.
[N] No paved streets man that was pretty cool but the best thing was
he was a great promoter every [A#] telephone pole all the way [B] down to Royal [G#m] Palm had my picture on it
[D#] and a big poster.
[G] So that was my [C] start here in San Pedro [F#] and on the last day here I was sitting on
the beach making [Bm] some notes [G#] and I'd met a guy from Colorado that had a catamaran and charter down here
behind what was BC's bar [C#] a little pier and his boat while he sat at that little thatched [F] bar
his boat was a coconut [C#] spall from the bar you get the image [G] there.
So I started this song on the
beach and finished it on the way back to Houston kept coming back to Belize writing more songs
released my third CD entitled Boat in Belize which I'm proud to say won album of the year at
the Texas Music Awards back in 2008.
He sits at the bar while he's waiting for charters he's up at [D] the
crack of noon at night he's a fetus [G] dancing with ladies [C] he's a strikingly [G] handsome dude
you know him much better said his ex-wife a letter [D] said there won't be any alimony soon
I've been captured by natives of a third world country [C] under a Central [G] American man he's [C] got a boat.
Dr.
San [G] Pedro coconut fall from the bar he's got [C] his vacuum beach on his favorite bar [D] stool
he don't have to stumble too far he plies [C] his trade in the islands diving and [G] trying to forget
what he [Em] left far behind he's just [C] what he sees he's [D] living his dream down [G] in Belize.
Well now the turquoise waters tickled by palm trees [D] blowing in the tropical breeze
barbecue Sundays Bruce on the barbie [C] the lava bar down at [E] BC's
we're [G]
expats and islanders sailors and pirates and [D] divers and those with a scan
and tourists that meet him like me want to be him [C] and we're trying to come [A] up with a plan
he's got a boat in Belize.
Dr.
San Pedro [G] a coconut fall from the bar he's [Em] got [C] his vacuum beach on his
favorite bar stool [D] he don't have to stumble too far he plies [C] his trade in the islands
dive on and [G] trying to forget [D] what he left [Bm] far behind he's just [C] what he sees he's living [D] his
dream down [G] in Belize.
