[D] To induct the Ronettes into the Rock and Roll [Dm] Hall of Fame, Keith Richards.
[A]
[D]
[C] [D] [B]
[N] So, you know, giant strides have been made in medical science lately, and this is why
I'm able to be able to say to you, good evening, ladies and gentlemen.
Welcome to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
It works [G] wonders.
[F#] I guess I gotta set the scene [B] here.
[A]
I'll take you back to a little dark, dank little theater in London, north of England,
I think, 1964.
AD, not BC.
[B] [F] [A]
I'll shut up.
And, on the [F] road, as usual, you know, and I climbed out of our little cubicle, and I'm
walking down that corridor, and it's green, [A] it smells, it's damp, and it's dark, you know,
and as I get to the stairwell, I start to hear these voices.
I think I've [G#m] already, you know, am I overdone it already?
[A] But, as I go down the stairwell, I hear this beautiful little chant set up by Nedra and
Estelle, and I realize I'm listening to the Ronettes, [F] and then that pure, pure voice over
the top singing Be My Baby.
[G] And, [N] I got a command performance, you know, all to myself from these.
And, I realized, despite Jack Neutsch's beautiful arrangements, that they could sing all their
way right through a wall of sound.
They didn't need any of it.
You know, they touched my [G] heart right there and then, and they touch it still.
And so, I guess, to cut the long story short, let me say, let's welcome on Veronica Bennett
and the Ronettes.
[E] [N]
