Hey [B] what's up my name is Josh Hamm, I play bass for Planet Shakers and this is the [G] Yamaha
[F#m] [E] BBNE-2.
It's a very nice bass as you can see.
I've got it in the [C#m] black.
[D] Nathan East, it's his signature bass, he plays it in [G] the white.
I don't want [D#] it to be different because [E] I'm a bit different to him, I look different so
I might as well get a bass that looks [B] different as well.
[C#] [D]
[Em]
[C#] [D] The bass that I had previous to this one, it was [E] a good bass but there were a few [D] things
that [E] weren't as good as the Yamaha BBNE.
One thing that the other bass [Em] was really [A] having issues with was it was very noisy.
[D] It had noiseless pickups but they [E] still generated noise and so when I play in big stadiums or
[A] even in a studio or if [E] there were lights on it would just have this buzz [C#] constantly.
The [E] BBNE is actually silent and it's [Bm] amazing.
When I'm not playing anything there's no noise [E] coming out of it and it's changed the game.
It means that I can actually stop playing without having to turn my volume [C#] down [D] because
it's a very quiet bass, it's wonderful.
It also [E] goes all the way up to [D] 24 frets which is very fun.
It means that I can go all [E] the way up to a high G [D] which is really good.
There's a lot of our songs [F#] in E flat for example [D] so I'm going up to a nice high major third.
It's very nice.
[E] This bass also [D] has, as you [E] can see down here, it's got [D] your volume knob nice and close [E] to
the strings which means that while I'm playing I [D] can do my [E] swells in with my pinky while
I'm playing that [G] which is really [A] nice in a [B] worship moment or I'm [D] just trying to do a
nice underlying subtle thing where I'm not too present but there's a little bit of [A] a
nice bass underlying there.
But then [F#] also I can quickly turn myself off [D] if [A] it calls for that or that kind of thing.
And then it has the pickup selector, the three band EQ [D] and then this knob down here, you
see it's a black knob which is different to the other nice [E] gold knobs.
[D] This one's actually a mid boost [F#] that you can with this switch activate [E] and deactivate which
[D] is really cool and really nice.
It means that I can get certain mid [E] frequencies that I want to pop out to pop out [D#] even more
or if there's [D] a mid frequency that's [F#] not working in a certain PA or in a [A] certain song I can
[D] isolate that frequency [F#] and take that out.
So [E]
having that there at my disposal [F#] at any point is just super handy and much easier
than getting an extra pedal or that kind of thing.
[E] [D]
[E] [D] [E]
[D] [E]
[D]
[B] [E] So Planet [F#] Cheekers is [G] stylistically very versatile.
[A] There's no one genre that we really stick to.
One song could be a [F#] dance anthem, the next song could be a crazy slap [D] fest, the next
one could be just a [F#] nice ballad.
And this bass is [D] really good and really versatile in being able to play all those different
styles [E] depending on what we're [D] wanting to do.
There is a couple of songs that are a bit more [B] funky, Motown-y.
And if you roll the [E] bass onto the [C#] neck pickup it actually [E] gives a really nice P-bass kind
of Motown-y feel and sound to [F#] it which is a bit more muffled and [C#] grunty.
[E] But if you roll it back a little bit towards the bridge you can actually get a really nice
slap sound out of it as well.
So [G] it's got [D] aspects from both ends of the spectrum which is really [E] cool and then you
can add a little bit of distortion [F#] to give it that grunt and it copes with distortion [B] really well.
But then also [C] one thing I love about this bass is it [F#m] sits really well in the [D#] mix.
So whether we're live or [F#] in the studio it actually has such a nice [B] warmth and such a
nice body that it doesn't matter what song we're playing [F#] it's like glue.
It just [E] kind of fits in the mix really well.
[F#] [B] [G]
[A] [C#m]
[F#] [B] [G]
[A] [G] [E]
[G] [E]
This is actually [G] a great bass.
It [E] feels really good, the string spacing is really nice, the necks are good [G] length, it's
[E] not too heavy which is really good because we jump around a lot on stage and I get a sore back.
So this is actually really comfortable, it plays [D] really well, it sounds [F#] really good in
the mix, it's a [E] really nice bass.
