You know, we're told in Acts chapter 1, 8 to be witnesses.
And when people are suffering, _ _ be a witness.
_ Be at their side.
Be a friend.
Be their companion.
Be their crying shoulder.
_ Be their guide through God's Word.
Hang with them.
Sit with them.
I venture to say that when Laura's husband was in surgery and she was sitting out there
in the waiting room, there were friends who were happy to be with her.
_ Be with people.
_ Don't slap biblical truth _ down like it were a pint of blood and say, here, ingest this.
This will do you good.
You'll feel a lot better.
It'll show you how to rejoice in suffering.
_ Hook your spiritual veins up to the one who is bleeding out of control with depression
and infuse your life into them.
It's going to cost you something.
But normal Christian service is always sacrificial service.
And pastor, if you have no time to do it, then you find some people in your congregation
who do have the opportunity and the time and the inclination to do it.
But what healed me were relationships. _
There's nothing more sweet, more poignant, more tender, more precious _ than finding Jesus
in your hell. _
