Okay, so today I'm going to try to help you
learn how to play John Mayer's version of the police message in a bottle and
This is my first time to do a tutorial so
I'm not sure if it's going to be right or good but
Feel free to comment or whatever you want to do.
I don't have any tabs for it
this is something I kind of figured out by ear and then looked up the tabs later and
confirmed it but
Here's nothing
[C#] [A] [B] [C#]
[A] [B] [F#] [G] Okay, so that's the first little minor riff of the song
And how that goes is you'll have your pointer finger
Right there on the fourth fret of the a-string
Then you'll have your ring finger sixth fret
of the D string
Then you'll have your pinky over here on the sixth
On the G string and kind of how he does it is like with this little slap thing
[C#] So you [G#]
get from there [A] and then just slide down to open [E] a
And your ring will be [N] on the second of the D and your
I mean your pointer will be on the second fret of the D and your ring will be on the fourth fret of
[G#m] [A] G Same [E] path
[A] [C#] So it goes [Em] and by the way when he's doing that [G#] he's plucking
Both the strings at the same time
[A] [E] And then you slide up that first shape [N] Up here
[B] Same positions, but on the fourth on the second fret is your ring
so every time
He does that he slaps down to make that kind of
[F#] cool rhythm sound and
Then you just slide that position up one more
two four [C#] six
[C#] [G#]
[Em] [F#] [C#] Sometimes [G#] they'll just take that on the sixth fret of the D string.
I'll just slide that up to the seventh [A] [G#] So
[G]
[A] Then he goes into the I'll send an SOS to the world and that's easy it's like a a just pluck it a
And [N] then you go back
then you have your
pointer finger on the second of the G
Then
[D] [N] he does this little chord, which I'm not sure what this is and I'm not sure this is right
That's something I figured out, but you'll have your second finger
Pointer finger on the second fret of the D
You rang on the fourth fret of the G and then your [Em] pinky on the fifth fret of the B
and [A] [D] [E]
[A] [D] [E] then [F#m] the I hope that someone gets my you add your thumb over the top on
the second fret and you
[D] [F#m] [D]
[G] [C#m] [B] So [F#] [C#] [Em]
[F#] [C#] hope that was helpful like I said, that was my first take except for
