[A]
I think that there's a growing consciousness that our priorities as a nation are wrong,
that our priorities within our culture and the church are misaligned, and my heart aches
to be a part of something different, a shift in culture, a rebirth [B] of purpose and [E] dreams,
a [A] redemption of identity.
I want to see greed replaced with brotherhood, and the pain of injustice replaced with love and forgiveness.
I want to be a part of the restoration of the earth, and I know I'm not alone in these yearnings.
I think that as human beings, we're overwhelmed with where to begin and which battles to fight.
We want powerful solutions, and to find our place within those powerful [E] solutions.
And as a [A] songwriter, I believe in the power of music and creativity to shake the earth.
But I believe that how I [E] live is more important than what I create, [A] and that the two need
to work together.
Jesus once told his disciples that whoever can be trusted with very little can be trusted with much.
To bring forth a culture of forgiveness, I must forgive myself of my shortcomings.
To show the world love, I must fiercely love my wife.
I want to loose the grips of greed and injustice by planting a garden and sharing meals with friends.
I want to fight hypocrisy in the church by confessing that I struggle [Bm] daily to walk out
what I believe to be true.
[E] I want [A] to change the world by one day being a father, and I want to nourish the dreams
of my [E] future children.
I [A] want to be a voice for my generation through the songs that I write, in the spirit of
honesty, and I want to sing them with boldness.
I want to shift culture by being faithful [E] in the small, but I want to be [A] brave enough
to dream the wild and the impossible, because in our own strength, we are caged by the fear
of the unknown and what we believe to be unattainable.
But our wildest dreams are but shadows of the ultimate creator.
There's a simple, but I think profound line that's been echoing inside of me for the past
couple of years.
Your heart is my promised land.
I believe that it's a line from the creator to the creation, and from the creation back
to the creator.
[E] I think it's easy to become cynical and overwhelmed with the [F#m] current state of our home and our
hearts on this earth, but [D] deep in our bones, we are called to rise to something greater,
[A]
to pursue love and [E] creativity through our own limitations and the turmoil of this [F#m] earth.
I believe to be the purest of all beauties.
[D] It takes sacrifice, and it reminds us of who we truly are and what we're becoming.
[E] It leaves an ache for a land, [A] [F#m] a home that we've glimpsed but haven't yet fully [D] entered.
The earth itself begins to heal.
[A]
It's been a dream of mine for [E] quite some time to record a full-length album that has been
[F#m] professionally produced and mastered.
To release the songs that have risen to the surface, [A] from where I've been, and where I
am, and where I long to [E] be.
[A] I truly believe in these songs, and I believe that now is the right time to pursue this [D] dream.
A cast of [A] incredible musicians and friends have agreed to create this album by my side,
[E] but we can't do it alone.
We're [A] asking for those that want to support this album to do so [D] before it has reached
completion.
[A] And to finish the album, we need to raise $11,000 in the next 30 days.
Please consider creating this album with us and spurring forward my own pursuit of love.
[F#m] I will be titling the album Promise Land, [A] and my prayer is that these songs will [D] be
a small part of your own journey.
