[Ebm] In our home, the [Cm] family was his top priority.
[Ab] He didn't bring [Eb] anything that was a challenge outside of the house [Ab] into the house.
[Eb] You never felt the [Bb] stress of a situation.
You never [C] knew that there was [Ab] anything in the [Eb] world that was bothering [Bb] him
because when he [Cm] came home, we were it.
I love my dad.
[Eb] He is [Bb]
[Cm] unbelievably intense [Ab] in a good way that maybe [Eb] people don't understand.
I know he's [Bb] always there for me.
[Cm] He was my biggest [Ab] fan.
[Eb] Dad always [Bb] made time.
No matter what was going on in the world, what was going on in his life,
[Eb] he was there for dinner most nights.
He was at our school events all the time, at our games.
I can't remember him missing anything that was important to us.
And when he was at home with his kids, he was home with his kids
or going to the baseball games or the basketball games or the plays or whatever.
There was no question.
We always knew he was going to be there.
For me, [Cm] it was football practice.
Not the [Ab] games, the practices.
[Eb] There were a lot of parents who came to games,
but there was only one dad who wouldn't miss practice, and that [C] was mine.
So the whistle was more of a, like, we're going to herd you all together and we're leaving
or the snap was
The [F] snap.
I don't have a thumb like his, so [G] my snap doesn't sound [C] like a shotgun.
If you heard the snap, you just stopped in your tracks, wherever you were,
turned around to see what he was expecting of you.
It had to happen.
He's got [F] the whistle.
I cannot whistle like that.
My whistle is very weak, [C] very girly.
You [Gm] could hear the whistle for miles away.
[F] In a crowded room, if he whistles [C] and any of his children are in that room,
they will go crawling over tables, [Gm] underneath wire, [F] whatever it takes to go [C] wherever that whistle is.
We could be in, like, the zoo with animals in crowds and he has that whistle where you don't need fingers.
It's a gift.
My oldest son, JW, he keeps asking me, Dad, when will I get my whistle?
And I've told him, I said, you're just going to have to wait on it and it'll come.
Hello.
You could all ask the kids to say his hello and we'll all do that.
This is how my dad says hello.
Hello.
[F]
The [Gm] one I love is when he says, give him praise [F] and glory.
That's the one I like.
[C] Sister, which is any one of the girls.
His accent, I [Gm] think, is still, [F] makes us giggle.
[C]
Bahamian, Bermuda, Hawaii, Italian, ambulance.
Just things like that, that [F] they're cute as can be and they're never going to [C] change.
[Cm] I get to sit down and have coffee with Pastor on a regular basis.
And in one [Eb] particular conversation that he and I were having over a morning cup of coffee,
he was [Cm] explaining to me, I was just out [Ab] of school,
how [Eb] he wished [Bb] that he [Eb] could have the energy that he did when he was in his early 20s.
[Bb] And he wished that he could have [Cm] the wisdom [Ab] that he had [Eb] after [Bb] decades of [C] experience.
And [Ab] it was that, you know, [Eb] son, if I would have only [Bb] known then what I know now [Cm] and had the [Ab] energy.
And I made this [Eb] commitment.
I said, if [Bb] you will give me [Cm] the wisdom, [Ab] I'll give you the energy.
[Eb] You can [Bb] leverage my youth if you'll allow me to know what you know.
[Eb] And it's been a tremendous blessing, I believe, to both of us,
because it has helped me go farther faster and it has helped extend his wisdom.
Hi, Daddy.
We love you more [Gm] than words can say.
We wish you the [Eb] happiest of birthdays.
May your latter days be greater than your former.
There are so many wonderful inspirational moments that you've given us in this lifetime.
Far too many to ever put on one video.
But we love you.
And from [Cm] the bottom of our hearts, we want to wish you.
Happy [Ab] birthday.
[F] Dad, we're very [Eb] proud of you.
I love you very much.
[Bb] Thank you for everything that you do for me and for us.
[Cm] We love you.
Ready?
[Ab] Happy birthday.
[Eb] Daddy, we love you.
I couldn't [Bb] think of a more wonderful father that I could have been blessed with.
[Cm] Thank you for everything that you've done for [Ab] us.
And we want to wish you a happy birthday.
[Eb] Happy birthday, Papa.
Daddy, we want to wish you a happy birthday.
[Ab] We think you are an amazing dad.
We think you're [Eb] an even more amazing [Bb] grandfather, a [C] great father-in-law.
[Ab] And buckle your seatbelt because the [Eb] best years are yet to come.
[Bb] We wanted to wish [Cm] you.
Happy [Eb] birthday, Papa.
[Bb] Dad, we just want [Cm] you to know how proud we [Ab] are of you, how thankful [Eb] to God we are for you,
and how [Bb] much you truly mean to each and every person in this room.
We love you with [Eb] all of our hearts, and we just want to say,
Happy birthday.
