Start Jamming...
Wicked Mocker guitar that I purchased way back in the first week of 1969.
[F] 68 had been a really [Ab] cool year for me and my [Ab] band.
Crazy we had a big hit song called Supercute.
[E]
[B] Anyway and so I figured at the end of that year I was a one-hit wonder you know.
So I better get my toolkit together and kind of sharpen [Ab] my
knives and all that stuff and [B] try to have an actual career in music.
So I bought this guitar and made a bunch of changes to it.
I won't bore you with the long list except for the [Bb] most important thing was I put [Bm] a
humbucker pickup right here [C] in the bridge.
[E] That would be off of a Gibson Les Paul guitar.
[A] And it's still [B] there look at that.
[N]
[Bm]
[A] Anyway I had heard about these [C] guys over in England.
They are named Jimmy, [B] Jeff and Eric.
Ask [C] your grandpa.
[Db] We will be talking about Jimmy Page, [Bb] Jeff Beck and Eric [D]
Clapton.
[B] And they were plugging Les [B] Paul Gibson guitar into a Marshall amp and making the coolest
sound [G] that ever was made.
Then [Ab]
[B] I wanted to get me some of them.
You know a couple of guys I know at the same time I think [Dbm] Gibbons were [Bm] doing the same thing
I was doing because of the same fellas [Dbm] in England.
Anyway [Ab] let's see so then I played this [C] guitar on everything [B] you know Green River up around
down on the corners.
I played [Db] this guitar at Woodstock.
[A] [Ab]
Thank you Gary.
[F]
No I mean sorry [B] Gary.
Thank you Gary.
Anyway the rocket ship went straight up for a couple years and then [G] of course just like
[Ab] Elon Musk [N] it started.
[B] Anyway in 1972 my band broke [G] up.
My girlfriend left [B] me and my dog Benny.
[B] About then this 12 year old kid comes up to me and says John can I have one of your guitars?
And I said yes I did it.
I took my most iconic precious thing in the world and they gave it to that 12 year old
kid and I didn't see his [Bbm] guitar for a long [B] time.
And then a couple years ago my sweet [Bm] wife Julie went out into the belly of America you might say.
She started eating up bushes.
She said I need a guitar man.
[Gb] And [B]
suddenly for the first time in 44 years I had my baby back.
[E]
It's a little youngster.
What's new on a Christmas morning?
[B]
Old Dad's wearing his special jammies.
Anyway I told you about that Woodstock deal.
I went up there with all the young hippie kids that we were [Bm] and after that wild weekend
I went home and I wrote this song on this guitar.
