[E] This is the song that I wrote back in 1967.
Most of you know this song by Grand Funk Railroad.
This [N] song was first recorded by a group
called the Soul Brothers Six.
We were on Atlantic Records.
I was the lead singer and songwriter for the group.
To date, Some Kind of Wonderful has been recorded
by 65 artists.
It's the most recorded song in music history.
Thank you.
[B] And it also, it's been on the radio over six million [C] times,
which makes it the third most [B] played song in the world.
And I remember writing that song.
A lot of people ask me, how did I write that song?
And why did I write it?
Some ask me if I wrote it about my wife.
No, I did not.
I was not married at the time.
Took me about 20 minutes to write the song.
I was in a [Bb] car driving from Rochester, New York
to Philadelphia, and I had just left this woman
that I'd spent the night with,
and I told her she was Some Kind of Wonderful.
[F] That's a true [B] story.
So that's how the song came about.
Right now, I'm gonna do it for you.
