Joel Plaskett - Before You Leave - originally by Thrush Hermit (live) chords
Start Jamming...
Here's a song from the Hermit days.
This is from our last record, Clayton Park, which is the [A] suburb that we grew up in.
[Ab] And the thing about [A] Clayton Park is it's a pretty uneventful place.
It was based on a garden plan, and [Am] it was built in the 60s, but it was [Gb] a place where
I think one of my favorite things about growing up there was just meeting [Bb] the friends that went on to form that [Gb] band with me.
When we were 12, [D] I just moved from Lunenburg.
And a [Bb] year later, we got guitars and we started playing songs.
[A] And I grew up playing music with my mates, Ian and Rob.
[D]
And we got [F] our drummer Cliff, and we went [Bb] on tour, and we had all these experiences to work around [Ab]
America for [A] the first time in our early 20s.
[Ab] I lived the life of Riley, and I still feel like I [A] still do.
And so [Ab] from boring [D] suburbs comes great memories.
So [A] I think about the suburb, and this is the last song on our last record.
It's a song about [D] saying goodbye.
So we reunited for some shows, [A] and then we said goodbye again for a while.
But here's a [Am] song called Before You Leave.
[D] You can picture the street that I was standing on.
[Bm]
Moonlight above the [A] street, and I can see you [D] perfectly.
Who needs the moon [A] above to see [A] that you don't need my [G] love?
[D] You don't need [D] my love.
[Bm]
If you find [A] someone else, please keep it [D] to yourself.
And never let me [A] know that you ever let me [G] go.
You ever [D] let me go.
[A] There's fire in the [G] trees and rain [D] upon the [A] roof.
It looks like we won't freeze just close [D] the chimney flue.
And do what [A] you gotta do before [G] you [D] leave.
[A] Do what you gotta do before you [G] [D] leave.
Do what [A] you gotta do before you [D] leave.
[Bm] The band struck up a [A] play.
I [A] know our love not fade away and into dust.
But if it must be [D] must, if it must, it must.
[Bm] And we all die [A]
alone at war or on the [D] phone.
Or both at the [A] same time sending volleys [G] through the [D] lines.
Volleys [D] through the lines.
[A] There's fire in the trees and rain [D] upon the roof.
[A] It looks like we won't freeze [D] just close the chimney flue.
And [A] do what you gotta do [G] before you [D] leave.
Do what [A] you gotta do before [G] you [D]
leave.
Do [A] what you gotta do before you [D] leave.
Yeah, do what [A] you gotta do before you [G] leave.
[D]
