[F] Rock fans, what's up?
The song Qualang was born when the then wife of Ian Anderson,
Jenny Franks, who was an art student,
showed Ian photos she took of homeless people
So he had the idea to write a song about a fictional homeless person
and gave this character the name of Aqualang
It is worth noting that Jenny helped Ian Anderson to write the lyrics
and she received the due credit for it
In an [C] interview for Guitar World magazine in 1999,
which I'll leave the link in the description,
Ian Anderson said the following [Cm] about Aqualang
[Fm] The idea came from a photo that my wife [Cm] took of a homeless person in London
[F] I had a guilty feeling about being homeless,
besides fear and insecurity with people like that,
which are kind of scary
and I suppose that [C] all this was combined with the slightly romanticized image
of a person who has nowhere to live,
but still is a free spirit,
who does not want or can not adapt to the prescribed formats by society
So from that photograph and these feelings,
I started writing the lyrics of Aqualang
[F] Ian Anderson chose the name Aqualang
inspired by a [G] TV series called Sea Hunt,
where the protagonist used [Fm] a diving equipment written Aqualang on it
and because of the high breathing noise [Cm] under water he produced,
Ian decided to baptize the character of the song with this name
[D] because of the respiratory problems the character had
and [F] that led to death at the end of the lyrics
However, what Anderson [Gm] did not know
is that Aqualang was not the [C] name of the diving equipment
but the manufacturer's brand
and it was even sued by the Aqualang Corporation of the United States
but the [D] process did not go forward
[G] but left Ian Anderson quite worried for a [Gm] while
And that's it [D#] Rock fans!
[G] A mega classic of the 70s for you!

_ [F] Rock fans, what's up?
The song Qualang was born when the then wife of Ian Anderson,
Jenny Franks, who was an art student,
showed Ian photos she took of homeless people
So he had the idea to write a song about a fictional homeless person
and gave this character the name of Aqualang
It is worth noting that Jenny helped Ian Anderson to write the lyrics
and she received the due credit for it _
In an [C] interview for Guitar World magazine in 1999,
which I'll leave the link in the description,
Ian Anderson said the following [Cm] about Aqualang
[Fm] The idea came from a photo that my wife [Cm] took of a homeless person in London
[F] I had a guilty feeling about being homeless,
besides fear and insecurity with people like that,
which are kind of scary
and I suppose that [C] all this was combined with the slightly romanticized image
of a person who has nowhere to live,
but still is a free spirit,
who does not want or can not adapt to the prescribed formats by society
So from that photograph and these feelings,
I started writing the lyrics of Aqualang
_ [F] _ _ Ian Anderson chose the name Aqualang
inspired by a [G] TV series called Sea Hunt,
where the protagonist used [Fm] a diving equipment written Aqualang on it
and because of the high breathing noise [Cm] under water he produced,
Ian decided to baptize the character of the song with this name
[D] because of the respiratory problems the character had
and [F] that led to death at the end of the lyrics _ _
However, what Anderson [Gm] did not know
is that Aqualang was not the [C] name of the diving equipment
but the manufacturer's brand
and it was even sued by the Aqualang Corporation of the United States
but the [D] process did not go forward
[G] but left Ian Anderson quite worried for a [Gm] while _
And that's it [D#] Rock fans!
