[Cm] [Ab] Hello and [Em] welcome.
This is Judy Adele and I am going to be doing a music reaction video
today.
Today, this is a request from the 2021 Best Zangers show and this request comes to
us by MrJ56.
The song is called Gest Aldo and I'm probably pronouncing that incorrectly,
translated into it's been a gesture into English.
And so the little bit that I know about this,
this is a singer that I've never heard before, but one of the people who inspired Floor and
many others to sing the way that they do.
She used to be the lead singer of a band called
The Gathering, which I do not think I am familiar with at all.
And her name is Annika van Heusbogen,
I think is maybe how you say it.
And she is actually singing a song, Gest Aldo, originally
done by a woman named Karsu.
So Annika is singing it.
It was in Turkish.
She's singing
it in both partially English, partially Turkish, I guess that's what I've been told.
I haven't
seen it yet.
So yeah, let's dive in and check it out.
[D] [C] [D]
I like how it starts.
[Gm] [Bm]
[Em] Oh, how beautiful your [Am] smile is lovely.
[D] Girl, you're such a gem, [Em] such a beautiful lady.
Trust me, you're beyond compare.
No [Am] one's above you.
[D] No one can [Em] hypnotize with those eyes like you do.
The sweet things you say, your smiling face.
[Am] Every heart loves your embrace.
[D] Don't you see my bae?
[Em] The sweet things you say, your smiling face.
[Am] Every heart loves your [D] embrace.
Don't you see my bae?
[Em]
Kessini [D] ala yaşadı, [Em]
dertleri [D] neydi boşadı.
[C] Gest Aldo, vallahi [D] Gest Aldo.
[Em] Kessini [D] ala yaşadı, [Em] dertleri [D] neydi boşadı.
[C] Gest Aldo, [D] vallahi Gest Aldo.
[Em]
[Ab] Okay, so a couple things that I have to stop.
First of all, this being Floor Jansson's
inspiration or one of her inspirations is, it's just interesting to hear her voice.
And
now I'm curious to hear her perform, you know, in the style that then Floor took on.
So in more of the rock style, she has a really interesting, crisp, clear voice that is really
cool.
And she, so interesting in the little snippet that I did read about the song, Karsu,
the woman in the dark hair, said that when she was having this sung to her by Anika, that it
felt like it was being sung, that Anika was singing to her.
She said, when I sing the song,
I am singing it to the ladies, the girls, whatever.
I don't remember exactly the term she used, but,
you know, [Em] to them as a group.
And she said, this felt like it was coming to her,
very personally to her.
And so you can definitely see that reaction in her.
And it's just,
it's so fun how she switched to Turkish that it was like a surprise and a joy.
[D] [Em] Well, maybe I'll get my opportunity.
[D] [Em] [D]
[C] [D]
[E] [C]
[D] [E]
Beyond [C] compare, no
[D] one can [E] hypnotize with the song you do.
The sweet things you say, your smiling [C] face.
Every heart loves your [D] embrace.
Sweet [E] things you say, your smiling [C] face.
[D] [E]
[D] [Em] [D]
[C] That [D]
[Em] [D] [E] [D]
[C] [D]
[Em] [D] is
[Em] [D]
[C] [D]
[Em] [D] [Em] [D]
[C] [D]
[E]
[C] [D]
[E] [G]
[D] really fun.
I so I'm curious about maybe one thing that I don't understand about the show
because I haven't seen the show in like, it's consecutive like run or a whole episode.
They
made a comment in the article about Karsu when she had her night.
So does that mean that everybody
performs the songs to one person?
You [Db] know, it's like that [Bm] person's evening that person's night
where everybody's doing their songs to them.
I'm just curious.
In my mind, I kind of thought it
kind of got sprinkled, you know, this song was for this person, the song was for this person,
that would be a lot to take if you had like a whole night, like how kind of cool, a really neat
way to do that and how like emotionally affecting and just like a lot to take in.
Like, I don't know
if I'd prefer that to be on one night or multiple nights.
So you can kind of just like digest.
But
clearly, obviously, there's a huge, huge effect on her.
The song is very cool song.
And Annika,
really, like I said, I'm still interested to hear her more.
And I could certainly see I can hear the
floor in her performance probably goes the other direction, but you catch my drift in her
performance.
And so I'm curious to know, like what her voice sounds like when she's kind of just
really out there doing her intense rock stuff.
So this is really neat.
It's always just again,
I'm such a, I've never seen the show, but I'm such a fan of the show, because of the intent of it.
And because of the honoring that it has and the respect and not about how so many American shows
are where it's just about making people, you know, it's either a spectacle of somebody, it's
about their worst failures, or, or it is about the quote, unquote, best, whatever we're, we put that
in in our terms.
And so I just, I'm just grateful that there's other energies going on in other
places that are this I love, I love what they're doing here.
So how much fun.
What a great opportunity
for the artists.
So I'm excited to learn more.
I thank you.
Thank you so much for the request and
the awareness.
It's fun to have the connection to have a have a little history now with Floor,
and then to learn about Annika and it all like it just brings it together in a little more of a
connected circle.
And I really appreciate that.
So thank you all for watching.
