Start Jamming...
I kind of actually started my career professionally as a songwriter first.
Of course you were one of my heroes.
Talking about everybody in the room
recording one of Bill's songs, I have to tell you.
I finally got a song cut in Nashville.
I was so excited.
Connie Smith recorded one of my songs.
I'm just jumping up and down.
It was on the back side of a Bill Anderson.
Which one?
It's called Ben and Only Ben.
I wrote a song called Senses.
And it made me feel good when Bobby Bear was talking earlier about
Chet being able to pick a good song.
So maybe there's hope for it yet.
But I wrote this song for Farron Young.
As I like to say, I'm very proud of all of the songs I've recorded.
For some reason, this was just special to me because I don't think Farron ever took me
serious as anything.
And when he said he was going to record this song as soon as he got back
to Nashville, I didn't believe.
I didn't take him serious either.
So, but this was a number one record for Farron Young and earned me my first BMI award.
And maybe some of you remember it.
Boys?

[B] [E]
So many times I told you [B] I was leaving.
And so many times [E] how I tried.
But saying you're leaving's [A] so much easier [C#m] than leaving [B] and saying.
[E]
[B] Cause every time I'd start to go.
[A]
I'd [E] [F#]
[B]
[B] [D#] [E] tell my lips to [B] say it's over.
But my heart would only say [E] that's a lie.
Cause saying you're leaving's [A] so much easier than leaving and saying [E] goodbye.
[F#] [A]
[B] [E]
[B] One minute I'm all set to go.
[A] And I change [E] my mind.
There's [F#] such a difference between leaving [D#]
[E] and always saying something about [B] leaving.
Oh, but something tells me I won't even try.
[C#] [E] Cause saying you're [E] leaving's [A] so much easier than leaving and [B] saying [E] goodbye.
