JAY SIEGEL'S (80)TOKENS:"The Lion Sleeps Tonight" & "Bday Cake" chords

Different singing group from a different high school.
You know, not professional singers.
Four or five guys would get together and form a group and that's how we [Eb] got the girls.
The best singers got the best girls.
[Dm] So anyway, we used to sing this [G] one song.
I was about 16 years old.
The kids used to tell us, please sing that song again.
We [Gb] love how you sing that song.
And in my wildest dreams, how would I [Bb] ever think that six years [Eb] later, that this song
we used to sing on the beach just for fun would be a number [Eb] one record in the United States
and sell about 3 [G] million records.
And about three weeks after that, it would be a number one record in 36 [Eb] countries all
over the world and sell about 13 million records.
I've been in a bunch of movies and sit-toms and commercials [Bm] and one day I woke up [Eb] and
I found out I was going to be in a new animated [N] film called The Lion King.
It was great.
The movie was so successful that RCA [D] did the re-release [Em] The Lion Sleeps Tonight again about
[G] 40 years later and it became a worldwide hit for the second time in a row.
And also we [F]
acquired a great audience of five-year-old kids.
[N]
Truthfully, when the record was a hit for the second [B] time, my granddaughter was [Eb] in kindergarten.
She was five years old and she told all the kids in her class, you know, my grandpa sings that song.
[G]
Oh yeah, [Eb] he sings it in the shower, he sings it in the rock.
Nobody believed my granddaughter.
My grandpa sang this and she was very upset.
[B] I don't want to see her upset so this is what she did.
It's [N] the truth.
One day, she brought me into her kindergarten class.
It was so much fun.
She was very [G] popular.
Anyway, we're going to [F] do that song now and the original [Db] key I recorded it in when I was
only 11 years old.
When you key [Gm] your mouth there, Mr.
[F] Kuroshi, you have anything lower than [Gb] that?
I'm not doing it.
Then [F] where do you want to go?
I know I say the silent [D] prayer that the notes come out because if they don't come out, we're
all out of a job.
[N] We love this job.
Oh, please Lord.
I don't care if you don't let me do it right now.
[Ab]
We need you.
We need you.
