This is Will Lee, an American bass player.
When I first heard Gladys Knight and the Pips version of I Heard It Through the Grapevine
popping out of the speakers of my parents' car radio,
it wasn't till a few years later that I sat down and picked it apart and realized that what made that arrangement so amazing
was James Jamerson's soul coming out of that bass and grabbing me.
This is my version of Grapevine.

Hi, this is Willie Weeks.
I had the chance to meet James Jamerson back in 1971 at the 20 Grand Club where he was playing.
And we started talking and we noticed that the hour was getting late because we were having a good time.
the man was truly friendly and wonderful.
He suggested that he would pick me up the following
morning at my hotel.
Well, he did.
We went out to his home and I got a chance to meet his family,
and the whole thing was just very exciting.
And then, on top of that, that night, he was present
[Eb] for the concert with Donny Hathaway, where I was playing bass with Donny.
And I got to say,
I was truly honored.
I think I'll always remember James Jamerson and his family.
And now I would like to play James Jamerson's bass line on Still Waters Run Deep by The Four
Tops.
