Like the song you about to hear is one I wrote here while back called in the corner at the table by the jukebox.
I was
working for my brother he had a
place down there in Tokyo, Texas and
Everybody said it was a beer joint, but he called it a food store because he had a can of corn in there
and I was about three blocks down the street and
There's one of them nights.
It's a cold wet raining and you know about like usual I
I
Didn't have no lights no water other than the rain
But but I had a guitar so I said, you know what?
It's a heck of a note, but you know hundred yards up street
everybody seems to be having pretty good time and
Drinking cold beer and eating crackers and here I sit trying to figure out how to boil these China berries.
So
That's pretty much how it happened
Actually the gist of it and I fooled around with it for about a year or so and if you notice it's pretty much got
the same two verses
but I just like the tune of it and there's only so many words you can put corner and Mourner and
Stormer or wherever it goes, you know
But I like the line about the measure by the bars clocks, you know
because when you in this business you spend a lot of time in them and
sometimes you
Either caught up in here or throw it out of it wanted to
It's pretty good song.
I reckon I think it's one of the bestest one I've ever wrote really as far as being
Sensical without being so complicated that you have to get a dictionary to understand it, you know
[B]

My favorite owners and I ain't able to face [B] it hard knock
I
Measured there by the bar clock
Then look on at my table by the [E] Jew
Step inside where love is died and you'll sure find me
with sadness and a
haunted [A] face that
To be hidden behind
[E] Locked in [B] the corner at my table by [E] the Jew
And

Right whenever I
Song comes to me.
It usually comes to the melody and the words at the same time.
I
Got a forest full of paper at the house right now that I've written words down to and I forget the melody and they're just
They're nonsensical the difference thing right in the poem and writing a song.
It is of course the melody and
I forget and
I'm not very a computer literate
So I have to get a little cassette recorder, you know when I'm thinking about it
And if I get an idea just sit down and sing into that and I'm not trying to be funny or cute about it
I'm not I'm not very literate.
I made fun of me one time about writing songs.
I said
After y'all were not a typewriter ribbon before I run out of songs and they tell him we don't use [A] typewriter I
Would like to think so, you know, I believe there's always gonna be people
that's gonna be mad at somebody or hurt somebody or happy with somebody as
opposed to
Well here I sit chicken frying
Wondering about the mind, you know, well, you know who cares about the mind calendar, you know, it's gone and really I mean
I don't make it by man who cares about nickel demons or what's-his-name nostril demons or Domus, you know, you know you I
think that that the the
The idea of it is timely side
There's always gonna be people
Involved with people somewhere down the line before the amplifiers before the music for the contracts for everything else
Somebody has had to sit down
Write something down to keep him going crazy and then put a tune to it and sing it
It might not be good
It might be bad
But that's what it's about trying to you know
If you walk around talking to yourself people look at you like what's wrong with him?
You know if you walk around singing to yourself, they think you're trying to write a song
But if you walk around in my hometown is West Station, Texas and me trying to sing a song
They all look at me say what's too late for him to get a job always makes it a music
I was
