Start Jamming...
Jackson Brown appeared on The Tonight Show on November 30th, 1993, doing the title track of his then current album, I'm Alive.
This is a Southern California singer-songwriter.
Every girl's dream when I went off to college, they'd have Jackson Brown albums and Carole King albums.
And Jackson Brown was so dreamy.
He must have been, because he nailed Nico.
That's how his song ended up on her Nico album with the Velvets backing her up.
He was [F] like 17 and he was pulling Nico.
He was pretty damn dreamy, I guess.
He was still alive in 1993 and he's still alive now in 2021.
So here he is on The Tonight Show, November 30th, [E] 1993, with [D#m] I'm [Fm] [N] Alive.
Since the debut of his first album in 1972, my next guest has been one of the most influential figures in contemporary music.
He just released his first album in four years, performing the title song, I'm Alive.
Please welcome Jackson Brown.

[B] It's [E] been a long [B] time since I watched [A] these lights alone.
[E]
I look around my life [A] tonight and it's hollow.
[B]
I might have done something to keep you [A] if I'd known.
[E] How unhappy [B] you'd be torn.
[E] But I was driven here [A] with my heart in hand.
[E] And I was falling through [C#m] with my [B] beautiful [E] plan.
Yelling [A] down [E] this canyon drive.
[C#m] With your laughter in [B] my [E] ears.
I'm gonna have to [A] block it out somehow [E] to survive.
Cause [B] those dreams are dead [E] and I'm alive.
[A] [E] I want to go where I will never [A] hear your name.
[E] I wanna lose my sorrow [A] and be free again.
[E] And I know I've [A] been insane.
[E] When I think of [B] places I could have been.
[E] But I was driven with [A] my heart in your hands.
