As promised, I thought I'd show you the chords to Intertemptation, live here on The Sound Den.
So the first chord is an E minor, which is very simple.
Then you take that middle finger and you put it up onto the low E [E] string.
So you go [Em] from the E minor [F#] up
[Em] to
[E] [Em] [F#] the
[Em]
[F#] [Em] low E.
[F#] [Em]
Then you move that shape to almost a G position, where you put your [G] middle finger on the low E string on the third fret.
And then you put your index finger on the A string on the second fret, where you're getting this sound.
[E] So, [Em] [G]
see, this is all I'm playing two notes.
[E] These are two note chords.
[Em]
[F#] [G]
And then you move that down to an A position.
You'd normally play an A like this, or you'd play an A [N] like this, or an A like this.
You only need two notes within that A chord, which is a general A chord.
So you take one of the notes out [E] and it sounds like this.
[Em] [F#] So
[G] [E]
Yep, which is the main basis of the track.
But then Neil throws in a B and a C note on top of that A chord, where it [A]
goes
[Bm]
[C]
[E] So, keep the A position, move the middle finger up to the B [A#] [Bm] string.
[A] And [E] [Bm]
then to almost a C position here, [C] which is
[Em]
[A] [Bm]
[B] [E]
[Bm] [C]
[A] [E]
[Bm] [C]
So that [G] progression sounds like this from [E] the beginning.
[Em]
[F#] [Em] [G]
[E] [Em]
[F#] Open [Em] up [G] your door,
[E] [Em]
[E] couldn't do [G] me no harm.
[E] [Em]
And open [G] invitation.
[E] [D] C, [C] B, C.
[A]
[Bm] [C]
[Em] [F#] [G]
[E] [D]
[C] [Em]
Yep.
[G] And then it's G
[Gm] for the Into Temptation part.
Then D, [D]
[Em] E minor.
[A] [G]
So
[D]
[C#] E minor.
[Em] And then a sneaky [B] little thing that you do is suspend it and you put the pinky on [Em] the B string.
So, watch my pinky come in, underneath, onto the second fret on the B string.
And I'm still in the E minor position.
[A] G.
[G]
[D]
[Em]
[N]
[A] [G] [B]
Now, [Bm] then [N] there's the You Can't Go bit.
You can't go, cave in, [C] in, and tell me.
[G]
[Bm] Okay, so that bit is B.
You can't go.
And then a really funny chord where you hold the bar here on [C#] the second fret,
but then you put your wedding finger on the fourth fret, just here.
[E] And then you keep the bar here and then you get this beautiful chord where after the B it [B] goes
You [Bm] can't go.
[A]
[Bm] You can't go.
You can't go.
[A] C.
[C]
G.
[G]
[B]
[Bm] [G]
So, [A]
[E] the [B] change is
You [Bm] can't go.
[C#m] You
[C] can't go. [G] G. D.
[B] [Bm]
[A] Hey!
[G] Into temptation, [D] right where [C] you belong.
[Em] So, [G]
into temptation, [D]
G, [C] C,
[Em] D minor.
So that's that progression.
It sounds like this in [B] total.
You [Bm]
can't go.
[F#m]
Sittin' in [C] your
[G] bed.
[B] [Bm] Use yourself when [A] you linger on.
[G] G, temptation, [D] C.
And then
[B]
[C] C,
[Em] D, [G] into temptation, [D] right where [C] you [Em] belong.
[G]
[A] [D] [G]
[Em]
[F#m] [Em] [G]
[E] [D] [G]
[C] [Em]
That's it.
No excuses.
I want to be playing with this track with you and James when you get to New York in a couple of weeks.
Okay, love you.

[Bm]
[C]
[E] So, keep the A position, move the middle finger up to the B [A#] [Bm] string.
[A] And [E] [Bm]
then to almost a C position here, [C] which is
[Em]
[A] [Bm]
[B] [E]
[Bm] [C]
[A] [E]
[Bm] [C]
So that [G] progression sounds like this from [E] the beginning.
[Em]
[F#] [Em] [G]
[E] [Em]
[F#] Open [Em] up [G] your door,
[E] [Em]
[E] couldn't do [G] me no harm.
[E] [Em]
And open [G] invitation.
[E] [D] C, [C] B, C.
[A]
[Bm] [C]
[Em] [F#] [G]
[E] [D]
[C] [Em]
Yep.
[G] And then it's G
[Gm] for the Into Temptation part.
Then D, [D]
[Em] E minor.
[A] [G]
So
[D]
[C#] E minor.
[Em] And then a sneaky [B] little thing that you do is suspend it and you put the pinky on [Em] the B string.
So, watch my pinky come in, underneath, onto the second fret on the B string.
And I'm still in the E minor position.
[A] G.
[G]
[D]
[Em]
[N]
[A] [G] [B]
Now, [Bm] then [N] there's the You Can't Go bit.
You can't go, cave in, [C] in, and tell me.
[G]
[Bm] Okay, so that bit is B.

[A]
[Bm] You can't go.
You can't go.
[A] C.
[C]
G.
[G]
[B]
[Bm] [G]
So, [A]
[E] the [B] change is
You [Bm] can't go.
[C#m] You
[C] can't go. [G] G. D.
[B] [Bm]
[A] Hey!
[G] Into temptation, [D] right where [C] you belong.
[Em] So, [G]
into temptation, [D]
G, [C] C,
[Em] D minor.
So that's that progression.
It sounds like this in [B] total.
You [Bm]
can't go.
[F#m]
Sittin' in [C] your

[B] [Bm] Use yourself when [A] you linger on.
[G] G, temptation, [D] C.
And then
[B]
[C] C,
[Em] D, [G] into temptation, [D] right where [C] you [Em] belong.
[G]
[A] [D] [G]
[Em]
[F#m] [Em] [G]
[E] [D] [G]
[C] [Em]
That's it.
