So we're here at Pearl Europe [Abm] and I'm standing next to Elise Trout.
[N] What do you say that like, Elise?
Elise Trout.
Elise Trout, okay.
Who is an internet sensation.
You are [A] amazing.
You play all the instruments.
All of them.
Almost.
I don't play saxophone.
Oh, well.
[E] I'm sure if you picked one up, you would.
[D] I tried once.
It was [Em] rough.
So I'm going to flip the [E] camera around a little bit.
[D] So we're here at the Pearl booth at NAMM [Eb] 2018.
And we're standing behind, in front of this rotating kit.
So tell me, why Pearl?
So I've been using a [A] Pearl kit since I was about [Eb] 12.
I got a Pearl [G] export from one of my friends who [D] is also a drummer.
And from there, I just kept using that Pearl kit.
I loved it.
And Pearl reached out and offered me an [Eb] endorsement.
And now [F] I'm playing on the Pearl reference.
And I just loved it ever since I started using Pearl.
Excellent.
[G] Excellent.
And are you excited about the new gear they have [Eb] coming out?
Yeah.
You heard about some bass pedals and a new snare.
A steel snare?
Yeah.
Yeah.
I definitely like the pedals and everything.
I'm excited.
And what kind of configuration do you like?
I tend to go with a kick snare tom tom.
Sort of like a jazzy, jazzy setup.
Also, sometimes there's another tom in there.
Just for [Gm] fun.
Or a second floor tom is another favorite.
[C] Cool.
Awesome.
And I know you do a lot of stuff [A] on your YouTube page.
Your videos are, you just kind of go from instrument to instrument.
[Eb] Do you have different setups for that kind of thing?
Yeah, I tend to, I like to simplify my drum kit for those [Gb] kinds of things.
Because I'm playing bass, [Eb] guitar, and keyboard also.
So [C] just having less gear is normally best.
[F] But the kick and the snare are really important.
Because I live loop the drums.
So getting that solid [B] sounding foundation for my songs is really important.
Awesome.
And so you write your own songs?
Yeah.
[Dm] And how long have you been making music?
I've been [A] playing piano since I was 6, [Eb] drums since I was 10,
and being a songwriter, artist, only about [C] 2 or 3 years ago now.
[Eb] Wow.
You're an inspiration.
You're an inspiration to some [F] people.
And you know what?
[Bm] That's great.
[G] Thank you so much.
So not [Bb] only is this a good opportunity to sit [D] down,
but I'm about to [Bm] film Elise Troe, who we spoke to earlier today.
She's going to put on a show here at Taylor.
And I can't wait to hear [A] it.
[B] [D]
[A] [B] [Em]
The best [C] would be without [Am] you.
The best [C] would be without [Am] you.
The best [C] would be without [A] you.
[Bm] [D]
[A] [Bm] [D]
[A] [B] Since that day when [Em] you were born.
[A] I [B] decided [Em] to carry on.
[A] Get through the day.
[Em] Late at night.
[A] Lay off to my [Bm] pillow.
I didn't [Em] feel right.
[A] Every day [Em] just the same.
[A] [B] Old rules, [Em] the same old game.
[A] [B] All I gained [Em] was heartache.
[A] [B] All I made [Em] was one mistake.
Now the [C] best would be without [Am] you.
The [C] best would be without [Am] you.
The [C] best would be without
