This does feel kind of like a speed date.
I was just thinking that!
[G]
What's your favorite color?
[Bb] Lily and I thought that Chatsyville was a really [Eb] fun band name.
We came up with the concept when we were actually a band.
So we [E] just
[Eb] [G] Yeah, [Eb] I guess we heard about a battle of the bands that one of the frats was putting [Db] on.
We were like, [Cm] let's write a song for that.
[Eb] So then we recruited her to [Ab] it.
And wrote this five minute long [Eb] song called Surrender.
We got a post-surrender to the guy.
We won Lily, because we had Chatsyville in the pool.
We had all these [Bbm] grand ideas of things we were going to do.
We were like, I don't know if you guys ever thought about that.
We were like, shoot!
Handwork [E] guns filled with blood.
[Eb] We one time threw like, rectal scratch bombs on Lily.
It was like our first [F] big thing.
[D] It was our first merch, [Eb] but it was on academic days.
I was like a science educator and accidentally got a rectal thermometer.
[Bbm] I was just trying to buy like, regular thermometers.
[Eb] So we were like, let's just scrawl [Db] our initials on the road.
[Bbm] What's your guys' sign?
Taurus.
I'm a Cancer.
Oh my god.
I mean, that's perfect.
Maybe Arshton.
Arshton's pretty [Eb] good.
We have three air signs, and then we have [Bb] a earth sign for us all.
[Ab] [C] [N] The last time RETRIGREED was in RETRIGREED was like, towards the beginning of the semester
when we were still writing our thesis, and nothing went well.
Two days before, all our instruments broke in a different [Abm] way.
Things [G] get wonky.
They truly do.
What [Eb] was the dumbest thing somebody on the internet has said about your band?
I'd like to [E] unlock their chest.
Oh [Eb] god.
Or like the opposite, or like, [F] oh, they don't need the fast track. Yeah, yeah.
I don't think we can.
I think [Ab] your chest is only [N] I know!
She's gone.
I can [Eb] handle it.
That was just like From cheap.
From cheap.
Subject line cheap.
Just like, Bonnie, your band name is cheap.
In like a terrible way of getting it.
Like a horrible ploy, you guys should get yourselves a better name or stop playing music.
Once at Silent Barn, these two guys in like very [F] studded vests came up to me after we'd finished a set
and were like, we thought you [N] were real jawbreakers, so we came out, but like, your band's pretty cool.
Thank you for not yelling at me.
[Eb] How many people get confused by that?
More [Bbm] than you would think.
We've gotten some great [F] Twitter hatred.
My [Eb] favorite thing that anyone has said is, deception is the weakest form of misandry.
I feel like I want that like patched back up.
Right?
Was Cold Slut from Frustration about like, [Ab] being called names by idiots?
[Eb] More like reclaiming the word slut.
[Bbm] My freshman year, the U plays.
I would like walk around singing [D] the slut song, and it was just like, three [Eb] chords.
We would just like jam on it.
It was just like, when we'd improv.
But then I took a lot of the lyrics from that song for Cold Slut.
And then named it Cold Slut, [Db] because I [N] do this tag around town.
My Cold Slut [Bbm] tag.
I love the word slut.
I love that.
Can you compare yourself to Trump?
My [Ab] mom wouldn't let me listen to their [Eb] alarms when I was little, but my dad really wanted me [Bb] to,
so we'd sit in the car in the [N] garage and listen to their alarms.
Seemingly because my mom was like, we do not listen to songs about heroin.
When was your first concert?
I went to Blink [Gm]-182 in No Doubt.
That was amazing.
[Cm] Did it stay together?
Yeah.
[Fm] I grew up in Hawaii, and there was like no band that [N] came out there.
What about Jack Johnson?
Jason Mraz.
I never saw him.
I saw Jason Mraz, but I was like, you know, not my type.
What about you guys?
I'm a bio major, so I studied how black capchickadees and tufted titmice,
which are these two species of [Eb] birds that have very similar alarms,
and I wanted to [N] see how they responded to predator vocalizations,
so I manipulated owl calls in the field and played them back at bird feeders.
I did a comparative analysis of reproductive health policies in the Soviet Union
and contemporary Russia to try to see [Ab] which are more progressive and empowering
[Eb] for people who aren't them, and I did it in speech-control language.
I remember my mom was wild about [D] it, and [Eb] plants, so the idea was [F] once I graduated,
I was like, [Ab] whoo!
It's all [B] done.
[Eb]
Oh, yeah.
[F] Julia gave [N] me my presentation, and I'm super hot.
[E] Was it surreal?
It [G] was a panic attack.
It really worked.
[Eb] We've all grown.
This speed date may have made me lose.
[B] If you are numbers, we'll be in touch.
