Hello, I'm Chris from Girls.
Welcome to In My Room.
I know you love it.
It's right around [A] the corner.
And you'll be [B] the girl that [E] I love.
I'd like to talk a little bit about the book collection because it's become something that [A] I've gotten a lot of pleasure out of.
Just yesterday I read this book called On [E] Booze by Scott Fitzgerald.
And I [C#m] think I told Hannah about five times that it was my new favorite book.
So it's difficult, you know.
[E] It's like saying which was your [G#m] favorite girlfriend.
[C#] [E] So when Harry Potter first came out,
[C#m] I thought it was exciting.
And I thought it was kind of competing with Lord [B] of the Rings.
And I thought it won.
I've [E] managed to collect [E] first editions of the entire series.
[A] They are the American versions though.
I [E] think the first pressings of the English versions would have been slightly better.
In 1995, I had just come out of a [A] school for naughty boys in Norway.
[F#] My stepfather [B] and my mother [E] coincidentally wanted to volunteer [C#m] for a year living in Slovenia,
doing humanitarian aid work for people who were affected by the Yugoslavian war.
[E] We were in the van [G#m] leaving [C#] Bosnia.
The times we'd actually go into Bosnia were [C#] rare because the war was still very thick there.
[A] So we lived in Slovenia and we kind of ran in and out [B] of the supplies.
And we were going home back to Slovenia.
[E] And on the way, on the road, was this helmet.
[B]
Just on the side of the road.
I'm pretty sure that [F#m] this is a mortar victim, not [B] bullet wounds.
[A] [B]
I carried this around all of Europe and bussed on the streets [G#] when I was a kid.
This guitar [B] was owned by Jeremy [G#m] Spencer, who played in [F#] Fleetwood Mac back when they were an all [E]-guy blues band.
And then he very famously dropped out and joined a group called the Children of God,
which is the group that I was born and raised in.
If there were any girls bands [G#] watching this and they've heard any of our songs, they were written on this guitar.
[C#m]
[B] Moving into this house is very much a fresh start for me as a person.
So [F#] I wanted to make a new set [G#m] of curtains.
And the touching thing about the blues is [F#] that it's about pain experience, [E] but it's about happiness.
It's a cathartic thing.
Anyway, that's what these curtains represent for me.
And they were picked all blue so that they could be called the blues.
And they have the same [C] effect.
I would like to talk about my stamp collection because it's been a lifelong process.
They all within them carry information about language, about design, and about cultural events.
This is singly probably my favorite [Am] stamp.
It's made by a Japanese [F] painter.
But I mean, stamps are just neat.
[G] I write prank letters to famous people.
I [C] did this, I started to do this [Am] in my early 20s.
Arnold [F] Schwarzenegger tried to be cute with me.
I told him he should get a [G] wax because of a photo of him being [C] hairy on the beach.
And I said, you really got rid of [Am] California now.
My friend [F] Skippy's skin is so smooth, it looks like melting ice [G] cream.
You need a wax.
[C] Welcome to Hollywood.
And he wrote me back, [Am] sorry I'm too busy taking back California.
[F]
Pretty neat.
