Hi, this is a tutorial for how to play I'm Yours by Jason Raz.
[G] And I'm going to do this tutorial in first parts.
The first movie, or video, will be the chords and the strumming.
And then the second video will be about the riffs and the song and how to combine that
with the strumming.
So this is part one, and there's only five chords in the song.
The first chord is [B] B.
It's a bar on the second fret, and you put these two fingers there.
Second chord is F sharp.
[F#] [Gm]
[F#]
[A#m] Third chord is G sharp minor.
[G#m] I suggest [G] putting a [F#] bar on the first [G#m] fret.
[E]
Fourth chord is E.
So all the fingers are on the fourth fret, except the index finger
is on the second fret.
And that's most of the song.
That's the main chords that make [Gm] up most of the song, except there's a C sharp 7 [C#] in
the middle part.
It's a bar on the first fret, middle finger on the second fret of the first string.
But those first four chords are the main part of the song.
And as far as the strumming goes, it's kind of a reggae beat where the upbeats are the emphasized beats.
So what I do is I
Well, with the left hand, it's important to lift up and not let [B] the chords ring out very long.
So what
[G] [B]
I do is I push down and I lift up so the chords [E] don't ring out, but I still
keep the [B] chord shape.
[Gm] And so as far as the right hand goes when the strumming, on the first strum, I'll palm mute.
I'll put my hand on top of the strings.
I'll still hit the strings, but I [N] put my hand on it so that no sound comes [B] out.
Only on every other strum, not the first strum.
I'm not sure what's the best technique.
I'm new to ukulele, really.
But I just use my index finger on the down and my thumb on the up.
[N] So those are the chords.
And for that main part of the song, [G] you do four strums, or four beats per chord.
So start with a B, one, two, [F#]
F sharp, [G#m] G sharp minor.
[E]
[N] So that's that part of the song.
And then there's that middle section where he kind of does a
Sorry, I have a mosquito bite on my leg, so I keep scratching it.
Anyway, so then there's that middle part of the song where Jason does this little scat
thing, and the chords change a little bit.
You only do two beats per chord.
So [F#] [B] it's like
[F#] [G#m]
[F#]
[E] So you do four beats on the E.
[F] [B]
So it goes B, then the F sharp, then the G sharp minor, then it goes back to the F sharp.
And then it goes to the E.
So B, [F#] F sharp, [B] G sharp minor.
That's the same as what we just did in the beginning, except only two beats.
But now we're going to [F#] go back to the F sharp.
And [Gm] then you go to the E for four [E] beats.
And then to the [C#] C sharp.
[G] C sharp seven for four beats.
[B]
[C] [F#] [G#m]
[F#] [E]
So
And you do it again.
[B]
[Em] [F#] [G] [G#m] [C]
[D#m] [E]
[C#]
So that's the chords and strumming for I'm Yours by Jason Raz.
In part two, I will go over the riffs and [G] how to combine that with the
