Hey Internet, [A]
how you doing?
Scott George from [G] Okanagan Afternoons back with you once again with
The old six string last week what we did was I gave you a guitar lesson on how to play Tim Hicks get by and
You know helped a lot of people play the song and after I put up that video
Got a lot of tweets got a lot of Facebook messages a few emails saying you know what maybe you should start to make this
a weekly thing and I said
Why the heck not only takes a couple seconds out of my day.
[C#] We got a guitar in the building
I've never worked at a radio station by the way where we had a radio station guitar
So I thought that was pretty cool, and you know what not only do you get to learn the songs?
But I get to learn them as well now
We just cover the basics just so you can get [N] the hang of the song because the most fun
I think you can have as a guitar player is
Learning little little tips and tricks and whatnot as to how to play the song and then you get to kind of make it your
Own by adding some of your own things, but as long as you have the basics of the song down pat.
It's pretty easy
So today, I thought we would do one of my favorite songs by mr..
Kenny Chesney [C#] and Grace Potter
It's called you and tequila
[F#]
[C#]
[F#] So that is what we're gonna learn today, so we're gonna start off with with the intro by the way this song is
[F] It's a half a step down
So what you want to do before you start this if if you want to play it the correct way doesn't necessarily have to be
This way is you're gonna take every single one of your strings
It's standard tuning, but you're just gonna tune them all half a step down now
I don't want to go through that right now, so I'm going to play it
In standard [F#] tuning so basically it's a G.
It's a I don't know the name of this one
It's a funky B chord basically what you're gonna.
Do when you play your [G] G
when you move to that second chord is
You take your index finger, and you put it on the B note on your on your fifth string here, so it's
And then you move that to a C.
So
And you get this [D#] drumming after a while now the second part of that if you have somebody else playing guitar with you
You'll notice that every second time he plays it.
There's like a little riff on the B string that [F#] goes
[Gm]
So [B] basically you start from [C#] your seventh fret down to three
[Dm] [G] up to eight
So every second time you play that chord progression.
That's when you throw that in
right here B
So that's that [F] now the chorus of the song which [C#] sounds like this
[F#]
Super easy to play
[F#]
So I'll just [D#] give you a little rift of it.
It's [D] it's a D
You and tequila make me crazy
[G] back down to G
Runs like poison in [G] my blood
So basically [D] it's D
and G
[G]
[D]
[G]
Then where he goes one more night could [G#] be from there.
It's a B minor
[Bm] One more night could kill me baby, then it's an E [Em] minor
[Bm] One more night.
Could you kill [Em] me baby?
I'm not a singer by the way, [B] and then you're gonna go to a C.
[C] One was one too many
Then to D one more [D] is never
[G] enough
Then back to here
[D]
So basically that's [F#] the entire song the solo if you can play a I guess a pentatonic scale
I think I'm saying that right
Because the song is in the key of G if you can play it pentatonic scale
Just mess around with those notes and eventually you'll crack it.
I just like to [G] play this stuff by ear
So I go
[E]
and then I [D#] just kind of mess around with those notes.
So anyway, it's a super easy song to play
If you can sing it
Encourage you to if you're like me and can't sing I just play and let somebody else do the singing
So there you go.
We'll be back next week with a another guitar lesson for you.
Have fun
