[Eb] Hi, [F] and welcome to my tutorial in which we're going to learn That Lady, better known as
Who's That Lady by [D] the Isley Brothers.
The guitar is tuned standard E, A, D, G, B, [Em] E.
We'll be [D] hammering on some minor chords, [Eb] like this one, which is a C minor 7, and then we're
going to go up here [Ab] to an F minor 7.
[C] In order to play the verses of the song, we'll be hammering on a C minor 7, like [Eb] this, and
then using the little finger to go to a [C] C7 suspended 4, like that.
[Eb] And then we'll go up here to an F minor 7, [Ab] and then we'll [Bb] play an F7 suspended 4 by using
the little finger again.
Let's get a close-up look at those chords.
Here's our [Cm] C minor 7.
We're barring the 3rd fret, [N] bringing in a finger to the B string 4th fret and the D
string 5th fret, and we're going to keep that bar and hammer like this.
And [Cm] then we're going to go to the [Dm] C7 suspended 4 by just bringing in the little finger.
So we're going [Cm] to go like [C] that.
Here's how we're going to do this.
We've got our bar here at the 3rd fret.
We're going to down strum, hammer [Cm] on to the C minor 7, down up.
[C] So that's.
[Cm]
[A] And then we're going to take the little finger and go to the 6th fret on the B string.
[Dm] So we've got this.
[Cm] [Eb]
Now with the little finger, we're hammering and pulling off.
So we've got this.
[Cm]
[E] Next we're going to move up to fret 8 and bar it, but we'll do it a little bit differently.
We'll play it this way.
[F]
[Fm] [Ab]
So here we use the little finger to go to [Fm] an F minor chord.
So we've got F minor [Fm] 7, [C] F7 suspended 4, [Fm] and F minor.
[Bb] So here we go.
[Ab] [Gb] So we hammered and pulled off fret 11 on the B string, and then we hammered and pulled
off fret 10 on the G string.
So here we go.
[Cm] [Eb] [Fm]
[C] [Eb]
[Fm] [Ab]
Next we'll go to the pre-chorus, and [D] it's going to sound like this.
[Ab]
[Cm] [C]
For [E] this part, we're going to go to an Ab major [Ab] 7 formed this way.
[Bb] That's a finger on the high E string fret 3, the B string fret [N] 4, the G string fret 5,
[Ab] and the D string fret 6.
[B] Next we'll go to a Bb7 suspended 4 [Ab] played this way.
[Bb] Now Bb here on top.
We've got a finger [E] on the high E string and B string at fret 4, the G string fret 5, the
D string fret 6, and if you can, put that bass note in there.
That's a Bb at fret [Ab] 6, and we're muting the A string.
[D] Now if you can't do that, simply do an [Ab] Ab chord like this and leave the bass note out
because it still sounds okay.
[N] So we're going to play that like [Ab] this.
And then we'll do a lick that [Gm] goes like this.
[C] So for the chords, [Cm] it was down, up, up, [Ab] down, down, up, up, [G] down, down, up, up, down, G,
third fret,
[Bb] Bb, first fret on the A [Ab] string, back to G, third [G] fret on the low E string,
[Bb] Bb, first fret, C, [C] third fret.
So we've got this.
[Gm]
And then [Bb] we're going to go into our chord vamp.
