[Gbm] Hi there friends, Eric Andres, your [Eb] guitar sage, and today I'm going to show you the
very easy chords to [G] Wake Me Up by [Eb] Avicii.
I think that's how to [E] pronounce it.
Avicii?
I think I ate that once.
Hmm.
[G] Savicii.
No, I don't know.
I'm vegan.
I don't know.
Avicii.
I think that's how to pronounce it.
But nonetheless, here we go.
I'm going to show you how to play these chords.
And so, as you may know, [Eb] I teach you chords [N] in the way that are easiest, okay, and the most right.
So what I mean by that is kind of a combination of both.
I'm going to teach you the correct chords, but I'm going to teach you in the way that's
easiest to play because we've got a lot of [Fm] folks out there who are newbies and that sort
of [G] thing, and so I want to show you how [F] to do it.
So here we go.
Okay?
No apologies.
This is how [G] we're going to do it.
So first off, you're going to capo the second fret.
If you [E] don't have a capo, then the chords are going to be, now this is where a lot of
people are going to [F] say, I can't do that.
I can't do bar chords.
You can do bar chords.
In fact, here on YouTube, if you type in Your Guitar Stage Bar Chords, a funny man who looks
like me, my brother, with a crazy goatee or crazy Fu Manchu, he'll teach you how [G] to play
bar chords, okay?
So do that.
Just type it up in the top there.
Okay, so the chords would be, if you don't [Bm] have a capo, B [G] minor, G, [A] D, [Gbm] E, F sharp minor.
[Em] Okay?
Now, [N] to make life easier, get yourself a [Gb] capo.
You don't have to play as [G] many bar chords because we can [Gb] put it in a key that feels
like an open key.
Okay?
So in this case here, we're going to be [Bm] playing it as B minor, [G]
F.
[Ab] Don't you fret about the F [Em] because I got the medicine for what ails you.
[Bm] Okay?
So A minor, [G] F, [D] C, and then [G] in the beginning, at the very beginning of the song, [E] you just
like a [Gbm]
C, E minor.
[Gb] Okay?
And really, that only [F] happens once, maybe twice, but that guitar gets kind of sucked
into this [G] vortex of sonic muffledness.
That's a technical way to say it.
And so [Eb] you can't really tell if he does it the second time.
I'm pretty sure he does.
But if you want to know, so I'm going to go over the strumming and all that stuff [Bm] with
you, but basically we got A minor, [G] lazy F, what I call lazy F.
I'll show you this.
[D] C, [Gbm] C, E minor.
[G] Okay?
But the rest of the time in the song, we're not going to be going to that E [Bm] minor.
We're just playing A minor, [G] F, [D] C,
[Bm] A minor, [G] F, [D]
C.
Okay now, in regards to the F, it's the only bar chord that we have here.
I play it [G] where it's not a bar chord.
[D] What kind of is, I guess we're barring the first and second string.
But make [Ab] sure here on YouTube, type [E] in effing, that's [F] E-F-F-I [G]-N-G, effing F chord.
And I'll teach you how to play the F chord in a bunch of different ways.
[Abm] And it will basically warm you up to the idea of [G] playing a bar chord, [Ab] F chord.
[G] Alright, so you know [B] where to do that.
Okay, so the chords are A [Bm] minor.
Now notice [Ab] I'm taking my thumb and [Gb] bringing it over the top of the guitar [Eb] here and muting
that low E string.
[Bm] [G]
And for this F, [D] I'm doing the same thing.
Check out this.
If [G] you don't want to go to that video, just look at this C chord and then look at what
I'm doing with the F chord.
So basically [Ab] I'm dropping this finger down [F] one, putting my pinky underneath my ring finger,
and then I'm barring right here on [G] the first fret.
[Gb] And then my thumb is muting that string there.
[Eb] Is that going to take you some time to learn?
Of [G] course it will.
You're not going to be able to form it as quickly as I did.
I've been doing it for 30 years or so and I've played it for several thousands of times.
So I'm going to [E] be able to play it a little bit quicker than you might do in [G] the beginning.
But [Abm] you'll get it in time.
[G] Anybody can.
And it's just a matter of practice.
[Bm] So we've got A minor.
So one measure of A minor.
[G] One measure of F and [D] two measures of C.
[Bm]
[G] [D]
And on that C, [B] yeah, two measures of that.
[Bm] A minor, [G]
F, [D] C, C.
[Bm]
A minor.
[G] It's the first [E] measure of the song that we got, or the first [G] [Bm] motif, musical motif through.
We've got A minor, [G] F, [D] C, [Gbm]
C, E minor.
It's a split [D] bar.
So it's two beats [Gbm] of C, two beats of E minor.
[E] That's only in the beginning.
[G] And the rest of the time we've got one measure of A minor, one [D] measure of F, two measures
of C.
Let's talk [Eb] about the [E] strumming.
This is basically like the Fulton Prison Blues strum [Eb] from Johnny Cash.
It's known as a [E] train beat.
So it's one, two,
[Bm] [G] [D]
[Bm] [G] [D]
[Gb] [Eb] three, and four.
[Gb]
That's the strum.
You want to practice that nice and slow.
[C] I'll slow down the video for you.
[Eb]
Do you [G] get it?
And back to normal [N] motion, right?
You get it.
So [Abm] yes, that may take some [Gb] time for you to [F] do.
If you would like an actual [E] depiction of that, you can go and hit the link below [G] that says
Your Guitar Stage.
It'll take you to the free e-book.
Or it'll take you to my website.
On the right-hand side you can enter your email name.

Just your email and your name.
[Gb] Not even your last name.
[Bb] And you'll get the free e-book and you'll be privy [Abm] to getting all these free books.
These books for free on Amazon when I make them [F] free, which I do that several times a [Em] year.
And a bunch of other great [Gm] free stuff.
So make sure you check that out.

into this [G] vortex of _ sonic _ muffledness.
_ That's a technical way to say it.
And so [Eb] you can't really tell if he does it the second time.
I'm pretty sure he does.
But if you want to know, so I'm going to go over the strumming and all that stuff [Bm] with
you, but basically we got A minor, _ [G] _ lazy F, what I call lazy F.
I'll show you this.
[D] _ _ C, [Gbm] C, E minor.
[G] Okay?
But the rest of the time in the song, we're not going to be going to that E [Bm] minor.
We're just playing A minor, [G] F, [D] C, _
_ _ [Bm] A minor, [G] F, [D] _
C.
Okay now, in regards to the F, it's the only bar chord that we have here.
I play it [G] where it's not a bar chord.
[D] What kind of is, I guess we're barring the first and second string.
But make [Ab] sure here on YouTube, type [E] in effing, that's [F] E-F-F-I [G]-N-G, _ effing F chord.
And I'll teach you how to play the F chord in a bunch of different ways.
[Abm] And it will basically warm you up to the idea of [G] playing a bar chord, [Ab] F chord.
[G] _ Alright, so you know [B] where to do that.
Okay, so the chords are A [Bm] minor.
_ _ Now notice [Ab] I'm taking my thumb and [Gb] bringing it over the top of the guitar [Eb] here and muting
that low E string.
[Bm] _ _ _ _ [G] _
And for this F, [D] I'm doing the same thing.
Check out this.
If [G] you don't want to go to that video, just look at this C chord and then look at what
I'm doing with the F chord.
So basically [Ab] I'm dropping this finger down [F] one, putting my pinky underneath my ring finger,
and then I'm barring right here on [G] the first fret. _
_ [Gb] And then my thumb is muting that string there.
So one measure of A minor.
_ [G] One measure of F and [D] two measures of C.
_ _ _ [Bm] _ _
[G] _ _ [D] _ _ _ _ _ _
_ And _ on _ that C, [B] yeah, two measures of that.
[Bm] A minor, _ [G]
F, [D] _ C, _ C.
[Bm]
A minor.
[G] _ It's the first [E] measure of the song that we got, or the first [G] _ [Bm] motif, musical motif through.
We've got A minor, [G] F, [D] C, _ [Gbm]
This is basically like the Fulton Prison Blues strum [Eb] from Johnny Cash.
It's known as a [E] train beat.
So it's one, _ two, _ _ _ _
[Bm] _ _ _ [G] _ [D] _ _ _ _
_ [Bm] _ _ [G] _ _ _ [D] _ _
_ _ _ _ [Gb] _ _ [Eb] three, and four.
_ _ _ [Gb] _ _ _
That's the strum.
You want to practice that nice and slow.
_ _ _ [C] I'll slow down the video for you.
[Eb] _ _ _ _ _
Do you [G] get it? _ _ _
And back to normal [N] motion, right?
You get it.
So [Abm] yes, that may take some [Gb] time for you to [F] do.
If you would like an actual [E] depiction of that, you can go and hit the link below [G] that says
