Start Jamming...
Hey guys, welcome back to rapid piano.
It's Ronald here and in today's lesson
We're going to be looking at how to play take me home country roads by John Denver
So it's a very famous song, you know, it's a all-time favorite of mine.
So let's see how it goes
So this is how we start off.
So this is the verse
[F#m] [E]
[D] [A]
[F#m] [E]
[D] [A]
And then after that we go on into the chorus
So this is part one of the tutorial guys
I'm going to show you how to play the verse for the full song tutorial
You can check out my website rapid piano comm the link is down in the description
All right.
So first let's look at what chords are we going to use here to play the verse?
Okay.
So the first call we want to learn is the chord a
Like this, okay
so we're going to be playing an inversion of a so your left hand you're going to play a and
for your right hand, [E] you're going to play e [A] a and
C sharp.
So that's your first chord.
Now your second chord is going to be an F [F#m] sharp minor
So your left hand you play [F#] F sharp and for your right hand you play
[F#m] F sharp a and C sharp
Okay, so that's your second chord.
[E] Now.
Your third chord is a regular E major chord
Like this so your left hand you play e with your left and for your right hand you play e a
flat and B and
Then your last chord [D] is a regular D chord
Like this so your left hand you play D and your right hand you play D F sharp and a
Alright, so there's totally four chords guys that you want [A] to learn for this verse.
So the first chord is a
second one is F sharp minor [F#m] and
then [E] E and [D] D
[C] All right, cool.
So now that you know the chords now, let me show you the actual chord progressions
So I'll hum the verse and you can see where we actually changing the chords.
Okay.
So here we go.
So we start on the chord a
[A] [F#m]
[E]
[D] [A]
All right, so let me do that again and I'll do it a bit more slowly
So first you need to see where we changing the chords and then once you get that, right?
Then I'll show you how to play it with the rhythm.
Okay, so let's do it again.
So we start on a
[F#m] [A]
Change to F [F#m] sharp minor
[E] [D] D
[A] So as you can see compared to the other chords
We spending lesser [D] time on the D [A] and then back to a chord you see towards the end of that section
So let's learn that section again
[F#m] [E]
[D] [A]
So D back to a towards the end, okay
So now the verse what you're going to do you're just going to play that whole section twice
Okay, once you play that section twice, it'll cover all the four lines of the verse.
So let's carry on
This is the third line now of the verse
[F#m] [E]
[D] [A]
So as you can see guys, there's no change at all, it's that exact same section that we play twice
All right, so let's do it the whole verse now together one time
[F#m] [E]
[D] [A]
[F#m]
[E] [D] [A]
And then you go into the chorus after that, all right, so now that you know the actual chord progression
Let me show you the rhythm now, so it goes like this
[F#m] [E]
[D] [A] All right, so all I'm doing is I'm just alternating between my right and my left hand
So let's say we are on the chord on a I'm just doing like this
Left right left right left right left, right?
[A#] Okay, it's the same thing with all the chords.
So let's start on the a [A] chord now
[F#m] [E]
[D] [A]
Continue
[F#m]
[E] [D]
[A] [G] Okay
Give me one sec guys
Okay, so there we have it guys
That's the actual verse of the song now for the full song tutorial where you can learn how to play the chorus and then the
Bridge as well that comes later in the song.
