[Em] Alright, so we're going to [Bm] learn this, [C] the major minor [G] 7th walk down.
[C] Very popular in R&B soul music.
It's been around [N] since soul was born and it's pretty easy to write out.
We're actually doing it in the key of G major here.
You're going to start with chord IV, which is a major 7.
Then you're going to go down to chord III, which is a minor 7.
Then you're going to go to chord II, which is a minor 7.
Then end on chord I, which is a major 7.
The major minor 7th walk down.
And it's actually a walk up too, but it starts walking down and that's [Em] sort of where it's
signature idea comes from.
[Bm] [Am]
[G] Then we come up.
[Am]
[Bm] [C] I'm playing everything in root position there.
C major [Bm] 7, [D] B minor [Am] 7, [C]
A minor [G] 7, G major 7, all in the key of G.
[C] I actually have a different voicing for it though when I started playing it here.
Basically you have chord IV, C major 7.
Take the E, put it at the top, keep all the other voicings the same.
[Bm] And then take [Am] that voicing and [G] just [Am] write it [Bm] parallel, straight [C] down, [Bm] scaling up.
[A] [G] [C] That's your rhythmic idea.
[Bm]
[Am]
[G] [Am] [Bm] [C]
And then I basically did a, [Bm]
[Bb] this is a B flat dominant 7, [Am] taking me into my A minor [Ebm] 7.
Then the A flat [Bm] dominant 7 taking me into my G major 7.
So that's that chord [C] progression.
[Bm] I [Am] know you're going to love [Bm] it.
[Bm]
[Em] Don't overdo [G] it, but definitely use it, have [D] fun with it, and make it a part of your repertoire.
