How to play smooth chords on the organ chords
Start Jamming...
[B] [Fm]
Hey folks, how you doing Sebastian here with another one of those organ nugget moments as someone said
I appreciate the love you guys are showing me just trying to share some different things.
I've learned down through the years
Today I want to do
how to
Like do some smooth organ chord progressions a lot of times
Cats that come from piano they approach the organ a little kind of in a rough way where it's not smooth
Just gonna give you some tips
I'm gonna give you a progression and make sure you hang out to the end because I'm gonna give you a
Special chord that you're gonna love.
All right, let's fool around with this a little bit
Okay, what I want you to understand with the organ one of the key things is not to lift your hands
Completely you always [Cm] [Gm] have to have something [F] connecting
[Fm] [Ab] [Eb] Always [Gm] [F]
[Ab] have to connect [Bb] so
[Gm] There's a nice simple [F] little
[Ab] Vamp chord, but what I [Cm] want you to see is how my left hand [Gm] is always connected
And [F] [Eb] [Fm]
[Cm] [Gm]
my left hand always moves with the pedal
[C]
[F] [Fm] Always [Cm] moves with the pedal so it's [Gm] like it's like a marriage
[C]
so always
[Fm]
So even though the [Gm] right hand and [F] I [Ab] call that the singing right hand
Because the right [Cm] hand has [Fm] to sing it has to move [Cm] it has [Gm] to
Play around with like [C] melodies [F] and [Ab] [Bbm] [Fm] [Eb]
[Gm] this is just an approach that I've used
I mean, I [F] know there are a lot of organists that approach [Ab] things differently
This is just an [Fm] approach that [Cm] I've used down through the years and [Fm] and it's kind of worked for me
But let me let me show you those chords slow them down where you got them.
So
That's really like that B minor 9 11
[Ab] [Fm] Sometimes the chord computer depending on what bass you're using the law, but it's really that B minor 9
B minor 9 [Cm]
[Fm] [Eb]
[Gm] [F]
[C]
and that minor 9 [Fm] with the [Ab] 11
Those are very common chords that we use on [Cm] the organ just to give you that nice
Nice [Gm] full sound I'm just messing up all over the place on these [F] pedals, right?
[Ab] There you go
[Cm] [Fm] [Gm] See [C] [F] [Ab]
[Fm] [Cm] nice
and most of the time you're going [Eb] between
nines and [Bb] elevens
[F]
But [Ab] [Db]
[Cm] [Ab] [Eb] [Gm]
[Cm] [F] [Ab]
I wanted you to get that now.
I'm almost done, but I want to show you this one last chord
It's a really sweet move, okay, I'm gonna play the same progression [Fm]
[Gm] [F] now watch [D] this
[Ab] That that like [Cm] slide in
[Fm] slide an end to
[Gm]
[F] [Cm] [D] [Ab]
[Cm] [Fm] Now, but [Gm] see what's funny about that chord
[F] [C]
[D] Now what that is the a flat seven flat five
But what's interesting about it and some of you guys are into theory
when you really look at the chord is
Basically two tritones against each [Gb] other
So you have your your f-sharp [Ab] tritone and you have your [D] a flat tritone
But they're against each other sort of like in like a parallel just a whole step apart from each other
But it just gives this unique [Ab] sound
That's really smooth
That's just a little [Fm] nugget.
I wanted [Gm] to share with you guys
[Cm] We do that one time again [Ab]
see right there right there
[Cm] Sweet man, that's just [Fm] sweet
[Gm]
[Cm] [D] [Ab]
Just sweet man.
Just sweet.
[Cm] So I want you to take that and fool around [Bb] with it
[C]
[Db] [Cm] [Gm]
[F] [Bm] [Ab]
[Eb] [Gm]
[C] [Db]
[Eb] [Gm] [A]
[D] [Fm]
[Eb] just have some fun with it fool around with it and
Try to take take it somewhere else
But um, just leave some things in the comments.
Let me know and
We're just trying to just help and share but make sure you subscribe let friends know about it
We're trying to help out the guys that are not
Super advanced and just trying to pass along some knowledge
All right, so enjoy it play with it if you really want to play don't play around
