[A] [E] What up [B] guys?
Mike Gross here of Rockinguitarlessons.com and youtube.com slash rockinguitarlessons1
that's ZZ Top with Ruff Boy.
Per request of one of my subscribers.
Dano333, this is for you buddy and anyone else [N] that's tuned in on it because you're
obviously here to learn this song.
Kind of a ballad, well it is a ballad for ZZ Top which they didn't have a lot of them.
Very melodic.
Billy Gibbons is a great, great player.
What else can you say about Billy Gibbons?
Couple notes and you can tell who the band is just by the tone of his guitar.
Kind of like Santana and Eddie Van Halen, you can just tell.
So tune standard for this, I've got it on my channel 2 distortion, back the gain off
a little bit.
I've got it on my saturate Rocktron, do my Rocktron unit for some delay or [E] for reverb.
So go 3rd finger [Dm] 9D, slide to 11.
[F#m] [D#] And then [B] go 1st [A] finger 9G.
[B] And then 9D.
Let's go.
[C#m] [B]
Then go [Em] [A] 7D and then just repeat it.
[Em] I think he goes 8 times of that.
On the [A#] intro here I just did 4.
[E] [B] [A]
Let's [B] [A]
[B] [A]
[Em]
pretend that was the 8th one.
Actually let's pretend this next one is E.
[A] [B]
[G] [B]
Then go fret [E] 6 on the G, slide to 7.
[Gm] It's a half step slide.
[Dm] Then go back to [Em]
6G and then go 9D.
Slide [G] vibrato on this too.
[B] When he's hanging on a note for a few seconds, he's vibratoing.
A lot of guitar players it's a natural thing that happens.
If you're not doing that now, don't sweat it.
Do practice your vibratos but they will get better with time to where you will just kind
of naturally do them.
That part I just played will [D#] go twice.
So you'll go.
[Dm] [B]
[C] And [E] then you'll go 7D.
I'm using my middle finger.
I think that's a palm muted [A] note.
And [Gm] then he starts it again.
[G]
And then [E] you're ending it on the 9 there, on the D.
[G] This part's cool too.
Go 5A, slide to 7.
So it's a whole step [A] ascending slide.
And then go pinky 10B.
And then slide it [G] to 12.
And then go first finger [G#m] 9B.
[Gm] Repeat it.
[A]
[E] Okay.
And then as he starts singing, I'll just show you the first two chords there.
He's playing A major, played not how you normally play.
Bar the 5th fret on the E and B and then go 6th on the [A] G.
And then [Dm] go 4G, first finger.
5B, third finger.
And 4 [E] high E, middle finger.
That's another way to play E major.
It's in the D form though.
[A] So we [E] have
And I feel like I'm out of tune.
[B] And I am out of tune.
[G]
Sorry about that.
It drives me nuts man if it's a hair out.
So anyways, Dayno333, there it is.
