Hey guys, it's Carl Brown from GuitarLessons365.com.
Today we've got another Beatles song.
We're going to take a look at Paperback Rider.
This is going to be a really quick one.
This is pretty two chords and a cool little riff and we're out.
So let's check out here.
We're in standard tuning.
We're going to start here at the third fret and just hold your first finger across the
third fret on the A and the low E string.
[C] [G] Alright, it's cool to let them ring out and stuff, ring together.
So you're going to pick the low E first, [C] then the fifth string [D] and you're going to hammer
on to the fifth fret on [C] the A.
[G] Then you're going to pick the fifth fret on the D string.
So that kind of forms a full power chord there.
Alright, now you're going to go back down to the low E and you're going to pick up the
little finger so you can have the third [F] fret now on the D string.
[C] So that bar is going across those three strings.
[G]
Alright, now back to the low E [C] and back to the fifth [G] fret, I mean, sorry, fifth string,
third [C] fret.
You have this.
[G]
[C] Now back to the low [G] E, so you keep going back to this note between each little thing.
And you're going to do a quick hammer on this time, three [D] to five.
[G]
And then [F] as that's ringing, [Dm] pick the third fret on the D string.
[E] So we have this all [C] together.
[G] [C] [G]
Start [G] over.
[C] [G]
[C] [G]
[C] [G] Now when you play this right before the very last chorus, he has a slight variation on it.
I think he does it one more time within the song too.
So just listen now for this part.
It sounds like this.
[C] [G] [C] Alright, so basically he just kind of [G] held on that third fret a little bit there.
So at the very end, [C]
[G] [C] so you're just picking that third fret again and [D] then hammering on
three to five [F] without [G] going to that top note.
[C] [G]
I'm going to do it again.
[C] [G]
Alright, so it's a little bit more simplified version of it.
Alright, other than that, we have the verse, which is just kind of a Chuck Berry rhythm.
G major barre chord here, the third fret.
[Bb] And then you're going to grab the seventh fret there on [G] the A string and then back.
[C] Then take that chord up to the eighth fret.
It's the only other chord in the song.
Or it's a C chord.
We do kind of go, we keep it a C.
[Cm] And then he'll add it as a [E] dominant seven chord by
picking up your little finger there.
So the [A] note on the [C] eighth fret can ring out on that D string.
[G]
[C] [Gm] [C] So you never hang out on this C [G] very long.
Straight back down.
[G]
[C] [Eb] [C]
[G] Alright, and that's about it.
So just keep repeating that and follow along with the song and it's two minutes of pop bliss.
Alright, I'll see you guys again soon for guitarlessons365.com.
Bye bye.
