Welcome to part 2 of my lesson on how to play the song Panama
Now that you got your sound set up and you've tuned down to an E flat or ready to go
So let me just play the the first part of the intro and then we'll break it down
one two [Eb] three four,
[Db]
[F] [Eb]
[Db] [Ab]
[N]
okay, so
Basically, I'm going to turn off the phaser and I'm going to turn off the delay to give you a cleaner sound to hear
Now let's just work on the first
six chords or so
What we want to do is start off with an E chord which starts on the a string at the seventh fret here
You're going to just make a simple bar chord
[Eb]
[Db] Now that's the first chord.
The second chord is just a variation of this position
You're just going to add your pinky to [Eb] the B string and then the third chord is again [N] in the same position
You're just going to this time lift up your ring finger and then put your middle finger on the G string
So you have variations of the same kind of [Eb] position?
[Bb]
[Eb] [Bb]
[B] Okay, so the first [Eb] three chords
[Ab] [Eb]
[Bb]
[Eb] [Bb]
[Eb] All right.
Now what [G] he does is he kind of uses the same chords [Eb] to roll into the second part of there
He just kind of goes
[Bb] [Eb]
[Bb] And then he just goes [N] two frets down and does the exact same thing only here.
We're started.
You know, this is a D chord and
You started on the fifth [Db] fret
[Gb]
[Ab]
So let's just do that [Eb] little bit
[Bb]
[Eb] [Db]
[Ab]
Of course, he's not playing [Eb] those chords.
Just like that
[Bb]
[Gm] He's putting a little rhythm in [F] there he's bouncing
Sort of [B] giving rhythm by bouncing off of the root [Eb] of this East E chord
[Db] [Ab]
[Db] He's make it even more tight.
He's kind of muffling at the bridge a little bit just [F] to kind of lock in that [Eb] little rhythm
[Db] [Cm] [Eb] It's keeping it really tight and he's letting the delay do some of the work
Earlier in the first part.
I showed you the delay I had right now.
It's off.
Let me turn it back on
So now if you just keep the course tight you let the delay do the work
[F] [Eb]
[Db] [Ab]
[G] All right.
So let's go on to the next part
