How to Play "My Hero" by Foo Fighters on Guitar chords
Start Jamming...
What's up guys, it's Thomas from Radius and we're going to break down a little Foo Fighters
My Hero and man, this song has some really cool riffs.
You ready?
[Bb] [E]
[Db]
[Db]
[E]
[Db] Two [E] chords are going to be E, open [B] E, second fret, second [E] fret, first fret, [Db]
then C sharp
but [Ab] with a G sharp in the bass.
[Abm]
So hold this across all of them and just the middle strings will do six on six and six
[Abm] and the rest are [Ab] fours.
[E] [Db]
[E]
[Db]
[E] [Db]
[Gb]
[A] Man, tricky little riff.
Alright so what we're [B] going to do, so we're just doing E to C sharp, okay?
[B] And there are some guitar parts where he's just holding on to four and he's gone.
[E]
[B]
[Bb] [Bm] So he's [B] going to go E to [Ab] C sharp and on the C sharp [B] he's going to go four seven and then
he's going to [Bb] go four four.
[G]
Basically on [Ebm] this string he's going to go seven [Bb] four four four, seven four four four
but [B] he's hitting both of these.
Okay, so that's the first time and [E] then he goes the second time [Ab] and this time he's going
the same [Bbm] beginning [B]
but then he's going seven [E] five five five, okay?
But you're still going to hold this one down.
So the first [B] time he's going and then the second time he's going.
Cool?
[E]
[B] [E]
It's hard to do them both at the same time but that is
[Db] it [Bb] for you.
Yeah, [E]
[Db] [E]
[Db] and then they stop.
[Gb] [Abm]
[A] So [Gb] they stop on here, second fret of the low E string and then they hit it one more time
and [Db] four on the A [B] string, second on the A string, [Abm] four on the E string.
So [Gb] let's put that together and [B] [Ab]
then [B] he just ends on A, [A] [Gb]
[A]
okay?
And then we just [Eb] go to a verse which [E] is E to [Ab] C sharp with G sharp in the [E] bass, [Db] same
chords and [E] he's going,
[Bb]
[Bb] so it's just [E]
five five five five five five [Ebm] four four and then
what I taught you, [E] then five five five five five five [Eb] four four, [A] then [Ebm] what I taught you.
[Em] He does it that second time.
[Bb] So [E] [Ebm]
[E] [Bb]
[E] that's going throughout the [Db] verse.
[Db] [E] [Db]
[E] [Db]
[A] All right, then we go [Bb] to our chorus.
You ready?
So it's A, [A] which is open A, second fret on the D string.
Then we're just going to do some octaves and it's going to be, [Eb]
[E] [Gb] [Eb]
and that is first [B] fret,
second fret, fourth fret on the D string.
[Eb] And we're just going to do [Bb] octaves which are three frets up, [Eb] so fourth fret on the B string.
Just hold this position and then I'll just be talking about this string.
So first fret, [E] second fret, [Gb] fourth fret.
And you're going to hit four notes on each one.
So [A] A,
[Eb] one, [E] two, [Gb]
four.
[E] [A] Then A again, [Eb] one, [E]
two, and [Bb] we're going to go to four [Db]
on this string, on the A string.
So [A] that'll sound like, [Bb]
[E] [Gb] [A]
[Eb] [E] [Bbm]
[E] okay?
So we're halfway through it and then we hit E, which is open [B] E, two, and then we [Eb] go one,
[E] two, four, [B] just like original.
And then [E] we get open two, then we go [Eb] one, two,
[Db] [B] then two on the A string.
[Bb] [E] [B]
[A] And then that puts us back into it.
So [Gb] you remember that riff?
And then here's the cool riff I want to teach [B] you.
[Bb]
And it is fourth fret on the B, along with the open E, little dissonance.
And then you hit it once, and then the second time you [E] slide up to the fifth fret, and then
you go [Eb] back to it on the third time.
[Gb] [Bb]
And then it [B] sets up.
I'm going to hit the G string and the B string together, but fourth fret on the G string
and I'm going to give it a bend.
Bend it up to this pitch.
[Bbm] [B]
[Bb]
[E] [Db]
[Gb] And then it goes back into the chorus.
[A]
[E]
And that is Foo [Em] Fighters, my hero.
