Start Jamming...
Hello guys, this is Amos of Stole Music,
and in today's lesson, I want to teach you
how to play this song called Donald Trump by Mac Miller, okay?
I'll be teaching you the repeating instrumental motif
that plays throughout the song.
Goes like this, give you a preview right [E] now.
Goes like this.
[F#] [G#m] [B] [F#] [D#m]
[E] [F#] [G#m]
[F#] [B] [F#] [D#m] [E] Et cetera.
Okay, let's get right into it.
So, first of all, we're learning the [C#] melody and chords
because from this, it allows us to do all these patterns, okay?
Just like what I did in the preview.
So anyway, here we go.
Let's learn it.
Right hand is pretty simple.
It goes, starting on the G sharp here, middle C,
go up an octave C, go up to the G sharp,
goes G sharp, A sharp, B, C sharp, B sharp,
down to [C] A sharp, down to [Bm] F sharp twice.
Just like that, and that's the right hand.
One more [E] time, it goes like this.
G sharp, [B] A sharp, [E] B, C sharp, B [B] sharp,
down to A sharp, down to F sharp twice.
And that's it for the right hand for this first part, okay?
Once you get that, well, it's not the first part.
This is the actual whole part for [C#] the loop for the right hand.
Once you get that left hand, we have a lot of chords here.
We have 7 chords here in [E] total, so pay attention.
The 7 chords are E major, E, G sharp, B.
Second chord is F sharp [F#] major, which is F sharp, A sharp, C sharp,
which is fully black note chord.
Third [G#m] chord, G sharp minor, which is G sharp, B, D sharp.
Fourth chord is first inversion of F [F#] sharp major,
which is A sharp, C sharp, F sharp.
Fifth chord [B] is B major, which is B, D sharp, F sharp.
Sixth chord [F#] is F sharp major, which is F sharp, A sharp, C sharp.
And then the last chord is [G] D sharp [D#m] minor, which is D sharp, F sharp, A sharp,
which is all black note chords again.
Yeah, so with those [E] 7 chords in mind,
so E [F#] major, F sharp major, [G#m] G sharp minor, first [F#] inversion F sharp [B] major,
B major, [F#] F [D#m] sharp major, D sharp minor.
Two hands together goes [G#] like this, [A#] so G sharp and [E] E major together.
A sharp and F sharp major [F#] together.
B [G#m] and G sharp minor together.
C sharp next [F#] chord together.
[B] D sharp, B major together.
A sharp and F [F#] sharp major together.
[D#m] F sharp and D sharp minor together.
Like [E] that.
One more time, it goes like this, together, two, three, [F#] together, [G#m] together,
two, [F#] three, [B] together, together, [F#] two, together, [D#m] three, together, two, four, like that.
Okay, and that's just like that.
Yeah, and once you get the melody and [E] chords for this very smoothly,
in repetition, [G#m]
[F#] [B] [F#] [D#m]
[E] so
[F#] [G#m] [B]
[F#] [D#m] Yeah, once you get it that smooth,
then you can start to apply other stuff to it.
So the left hand, you can do a repeating like, kind of like, pretty easy pattern.
Just [B] like the lower note followed by the higher two notes,
like [A#] alternating [E] between that.
[F#] [G#m]
[D#m] [B] [F#] [D#m] [E]
[F#] [G#m] [F#] [B] [F#]
[D#m] Yeah, you gotta practice that, [C] okay?
Once you get [D#] practice that pattern, you can apply [E] it to the two hands like this.
[F#] [G#m]
[F#] [B] [F#] [D#m] Yeah, and you can harmonize the [E] right hand as well.
[G#m] [F#]
[B] [F#] [D#m] Like [G#m] that, okay?
Just based on the chords you [G] harmonize over the [N] right hand.
Anyway, obviously it takes more agility and takes more thinking
when applying these improvisations and decorations,
because you're just like, using more things into it, okay?
Just like how you're substituting harder stuff into the equation, okay?
But anyway, yeah, that's pretty much it, sir.
Pretty awesome, very catchy, and not that difficult song to learn.
