Chords for How To Play-Locked Out Of Heaven by Bruno Mars Guitar Lesson-With Tablature-

_ _ [E] _ _ _ _ [A] Hey, I'm Gary Potter, and in this lesson we're going to take a look at the Bruno Mars tune
Locked Out of [Gb] Heaven.
So this tune starts off on a pickup, on the offbeat of three on a C chord.
So you're going to get this [C] bar version of a C chord here on the third fret, [Dm] going right
to a D minor chord.
[C] So you get, _ [Dm] _
[E] _ here's your first little [C] switch.
So here's your [Gb] C.
I'm putting my first finger on the 3rd fret of the 5th [Ab] string and then
barring my 3rd finger on the 2nd string on the 5th fret, the 3rd string on the [C] 5th fret,
and then the 4th string on the 5th fret.
Muting out the 6th string, muting out the 1st string.
So it's a quick little hit on that, and [Dm] going to [C] a D minor chord.
[Dm] _
D minor's on the 5th fret, 1st finger, _ [Gb]
3rd finger on the 7th fret of the 4th string,
and then [Dm] 4th finger on the 7th fret of the 3rd string, 2nd finger on the 6th fret of
the second string.
_ _ So you _ get_
then you hit this chord again, [Bb] go to a Bb, _ _ and that's the same shape
as what you're doing with the C chord, just on the first fret.
_ [Db]
So first finger on the first fret of
the fifth string, and then your third finger barred on the second, third, and fourth strings, [Bb] third fret. _
[E] So starting that over you [Dm] _ get_
_ [Bb] _
_ then here you hit this chord again, and then go [Gm] to a G minor chord,
_ _ _ _ [Gb] and that's on the third fret, sixth string.
_ Third and fourth finger on the fifth fret on the fifth
and fourth [Gm] string, first finger barred, all the way across.
_ [E] The rhythm here is a little bit funky,
you get [Gm] _
_ this_
_ _ [E] _ _ [Dm] _
then it would go [C] back to the C, _ [D] _ and then to the D to start over.
_ [E] So the whole riff slowly
[C] would _ _ [D] _ _ [Dm] _ _ [Bb] _ _
_ _ _ [G] _ be_ _ _
_ _ _ _ [Dm] _ _ _ _
_ _ [Bb] _ _ _ _ [G] _
So _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ [D] you can see here that to cut the note short I'm lifting the pressure off, _
and make the note stop.
So you can see I'll strum it, _ _ and I lift the pressure, _ that stops the string.
_ _ That's how you get the notes to be [C] short.
So you _ _ [Dm] get_
see how I lift the pressure [C] off there.
[Dm] _ _ _ _ _ [Bb] _ _ _
_ [Gm] _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ [E] And
then this over here is just covering the strings in the position of the G minor chord, but not
pressing down.
So you get this. _ _ _ _ _

_ _ _ [Gm] _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [D] _ So I'll do that again a little slower.

So coming out of the [E] verse into the pre-chorus, the first half
of [C] it is just _ [Dm] the_
_ _ [Bb] _
_ _ _ [G] _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [D] but then it goes into an F, [F] _ _ _ applying some eighth notes [A] here, _ _ _ to A, _ _ [F] and going into the
chorus, it's going to be that Bb.
So F here is on the sixth string, just a major bar chord voicing.
So
first finger on the first fret of the sixth string, third and fourth finger on the fourth and fifth
[Db] string, and then your second finger on the second fret of the third [F] string, _ barring your first finger
all the way across.
Then _ _ _ _ _ _ _ [A] _
move that same shape to the fifth fret, which is going to give you an A [F] chord. _ _ _ _ _ _ _
[A] _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
And that [Bb] goes right into the chorus, _ which is a Bb chord.
And you can do the Bb either here,
or the other Bb that you're doing in the intro and verses.
I'm choosing to just do it [A] here just
because it comes [Bb] nicely from the A. _

_ _ _ _ _ _ It is closer up to tempo, so you can play along.
