Start Jamming...
Now we're going to learn Stevie Ray Vaughan's Life by the Drop.
This is a solo acoustic piece that Stevie Ray plays on a 12 string acoustic guitar.
But I'm going to do it on a six string because I don't have a 12 string here.
So six string acoustic, the opening riff goes like this.
[D] [A]
[D] [A] Little blues in A.
So we're going to start off with triplets.
So that's going to be three notes for every one beat.
So the first three notes are open A string, [C] third fret A string,
[Eb] followed by the open [D] D string.
The next three notes, first fret to the second fret on the D string,
followed by the open G string.
[G] So if I count you in, here's what we've done so far.
[Gb] One, two, three, and a four, and a.
Now we're going to get away from the triplets.
Next notes are 16th notes, four notes for every one beat.
We're going to play on the D string, open, first fret,
pull off back to the open D [D] string, followed by three on the A string.
[C] [D] Once again, [A] so far we've done this.
[C] [D] Next four notes, also 16th notes here, open D, third fret of the A,
[C] hammer on from the open G to the second [A] fret.
So so far we've done [C] this.
[Eb] [G]
[A] Now we're going to have some triplets.
So the next three notes are open [F] G, and then two to one on the D string.
[Eb]
Now we have 16th notes, next four notes, open D string, first fret,
back to the open D string.
So we'll hammer on and pull off, followed by three [D] on the A string.
[C]
Let's review a little bit.
Here's what we've done from the beginning.
[C] [N]
OK, powering through the intro here, we have two more triplets to go.
