[B] [D] It's Vinnie, PowerTwang.com.
Don't forget the little hyphen in between.
So I've got a pretty simple lesson for you today.
This is going to be one camera angle here.
But this is just a little rock and country type intro riff in the style of Here for the
Party by Gretchen Wilson.
But anyway, this one here is in drop D.
So the first thing you're going to want to do
for this one is tune down your low E string to the D note.
[A] And again, it's a pretty simple riff.
[D] It just repeats over and over again.
So we'll zoom in here and we'll cover this first part of the lick.
Okay, so to start this out, you're just going to do two notes on the low D string here.
[G]
[D] Then it's fifth fret of the fifth string, D note.
Then another low open D note there on the sixth string.
[Am] Then you're going to do [C] a third fret on the fifth [D] string.
And then a fifth fret on the fifth string.
That's the first six notes of this riff.
And then the seventh and eighth [E] notes [F] are, you're just doing this little bend here [D] on
the third fret of the sixth [F] string.
[D] And then open.
That's basically the first half of the lick.
So one more time slowly.
Really that, after you do this little bend and you hit that D note, that's technically
the first note of the second half of it.
Again, so technically you hit that open D again twice.
So [C] [D]
then all you're doing here is,
[A] and all that is, [D] is double pick on the fifth fret of the fifth string.
[C] [A] [B] Then basically you're doing a double [C]
pick here at the third fret.
One pick here at the second fret.
[G] And then open [A] fifth string.
[D] So,
[C] [B] you [D] got that?
[A]
So then if we take those two parts and we put them together, it's,
[D]
[B] [D] [C]
[C] [A]
and really, pretty much that part of the intro, it just repeats over and over.
I believe it's, I want to say it's at least four times.
[D]
[C] [D]
[D] [C]
[B] [C]
[D] [C]
Now I will say, I'll point [E] out that you might want to experiment with how much you mute that low,
that sixth string.
[D] Because you don't really want to let it totally ring out.
[F#] So if [Am] you just kind of give it a little bit more of a staccato sound by muting with your right hand.
[C] [D]
[A] But again, that's basically the main riff and then it goes into the intro,
[B] which is just basically toggles back and forth between [D] the C and D [A] chords.
And I believe it also goes up to [G] a G, maybe even an A.
[A] [D]
But that's pretty much it for today's lesson.
Again, it's just kind of a little rock and country riff.
Again, lower that sixth string down to a D note and you're ready to rock.
Hey, anyway, this is Vinnie for powertwang.com and we'll see you soon.
Thanks.
