[Cm] Right now I'd like to share with you how I play the classic Grover Washington song Mr.
Magic
Now the main chord vamp in the beginning there is I play a C minor seventh
to an [F] F major
Now [Cm]
[F] [Eb]
[Bb] [F]
when you play that the main theme [C] the intro I play that like this
[F] [D] Now [Bb] [F]
[D] [Bb] [D]
[Eb] [N] what you're going to be doing is taking your third finger at the 10th fret and
the G and B strings
And you're going to pull off to your first finger at the eighth fret on the G and B [F] strings
Then you're going to move down with your third [N] finger at the seventh fret again on the G and B strings
You're going to pull off to your first finger at the fifth fret
[D]
Now you're going to take your second [Ab] finger at the eighth fret on the D string and
Do a pull [Ebm] off to the sec 7th fret with your first finger on the D string
[A]
[F] [D] [Bb] [A]
[N] Now keeping your first finger at the seventh fret on the D string you're gonna
take your pinky and add that at the tenth fret of the [A] B string.
That's gonna
give you that octave there.
[N] Now I take with my first finger I mute the G string
so you're not getting that note and I kind of mute that A string just in case
and then with my pinky [E] I mute the high E string so you're not all you're getting
[A] is the [Ab] you're getting that octave there and then to close the phrase with my
first finger at the sixth fret on the D string my second finger at the seventh
fret on the G string I hit that and slide up a half step [Eb] [F] so slowly you're
gonna
[D] [Bb] [D]
[E] [F] and [D] then
[Eb]
[F] at [Gb] tempo
[F] [D]
[Bb] [F] [D]
[Bb] now [A] [G]
from there it kind of you know we don't have any horn players in the band
that I play in so I do all all those [Gb] pieces myself but just depending you
know you can always
[Cm] [Am]
[Eb] [Bb] [Gm] [F]
[Gb] [Fm] [Gm]
[Cm] [Bb] [F] [D] [Gm]
[D] [Eb] you [A]
[C] [Ab] [N]
know whatever that's what I do I fill in all those the horn lines and
then after that we all just you know I'll take a guitar solo the bass player
does his thing the drummer gets to get everybody gets to get down a little bit
on that you know so that's how I play it I hope it helps and as
