Hey everyone, Rod DeGeorge here and [Ab] welcome to my channel.
If you love everything about music,
please consider subscribing as we cover many facets [A] of it here on this channel.
Today,
we're going to learn how to play
So the intro and the verse is basically D, A, and G.
[D] [G]
But [Am] what we're doing is we're doing the D and the Dsus2.
[D] And the Dsus2 is just basically taking
your middle finger off and we're playing that E note as opposed to the F sharp.
He's basically
doing a down and up strumming pattern here, hitting the outside strings of the chord.
And
he goes
So down, up, [A] down, up.
On that second upstroke is where we get that Dsus2.
[D] And then
on the third upstroke, we go back to the D.
[A] Now right [D] here, it's a little tricky.
[Em] Right there,
that upstroke that leads us to the [D] next chord, the A, [G] [B] we want to hit that open B [D] string.
[E] And
then we hammer on that A chord.
[A] Okay?
You can just hammer on that pinky, but it's probably easier
just to hammer on all [Abm] three fingers of the A chord.
[D] So it's like
[A] [Em] Okay, now this does the
A to the Asus2, and it's pretty much the same thing, hitting the outside [A] strings of the chord.
So on that upstroke, one and two [A] and.
On the and a two [Am] is where we're hitting the [Em] Sus2 on the D
and the [D] A.
[A] [Am] Now that Sus2 is just picking up the pinky, or [G] if you're using one, two, and three,
the third finger, whatever finger you're [Db] using on that second [B] string, we want that open B,
that second string open, [G] as opposed to playing the [Ab] C sharp for [A] the A major chord.
So that Sus2 is
without the finger.
A major is with the [D] finger.
[A] And then when we go to the [G] G, we go
Now this
is just a G chord, but what he's doing here, he's moving this first finger down to the fourth string.
[D] So we're hitting the open [E] D, then the [G] fretted E, which is the second fret [D] of the fourth string.
And he kind of [Ab] grabs that open [G] G as well.
So the [D] verse and the intro.
[Bm] [A]
[G]
Okay?
So that is the verse
[Ab] and the intro.
And the only other part is going to be the chorus.
So the chorus is just going to be
the D and the G.
Now he does throw a little fill in there with the Sus4, which is the pinky [D] on the D.
[D] Add the pinky to the first string.
That's Sus4.
Take it off major.
[A]
As we said before, Sus2 is
with the open string.
So he's [D] like
[G]
[D] [G]
So [Em] at least that's what he was doing on the Saturday Night Live
one that I listened to.
In the recorded version, there's organ [D] in that, so that part may not be as
prevalent.
But in live versions that I've heard, he's going
[G]
Now [D] you could get away with just
playing the D.
[G]
[D]
[G] [D]
[G] [D]

[C] Those are the two parts of You're the One by Greta Van Fleet.
So hopefully you found
that helpful.
