Hi there, I'm Andy Hillier for 9to42, and today I'm going to teach you how to play
Close To Me by Ellie Golden featuring Diplo and Sway Lee.
I think that's how you say their names.
It sounds like this.
[C#m] [Cm]
[C#m] [E]
[C#] [Cm]
[C#m] [E] Okay, so that's the verse.
Really simple to play.
We're going to start with our little finger on A7, and our first finger on G4.
And we're just going to jump between those two notes.
That's the first bar.
Sounds like that.
And then for the next shape, we're going to put our first finger flat across [G#m] the A, D
and the G strings.
You can squeeze the rest of the strings down as well.
Because we're going to play four on the [C#] A string, and four on the G string.
And we're going to jump between those.
You could use two separate fingers if you want, if [C#] you find that easier.
[E] So the first two bars sound like this.
[C#] [Em] And then we're going to go to your second [D] finger on G5, and your third finger on A6.
[D#] And we'll jump between those two notes.
[Cm]
And then we're going to move those two fingers [E] up one fret, so we're on 7 and [C#m] 6.
And play that.
And [E] that completes the whole of the first line, or the whole of the verse.
Put it together really slowly, it sounds like this.
[C#]
[Cm]
[C#m]
[E] And up to speed.
[C#m]
And [Cm] [C#m]
[E] it just repeats round.
Okay, so that's the verse of the song.
The only other bit that we need to play is the chorus.
The chords for this are an E chord.
You could play a normal E chord, but I'm playing a barre chord up with my first finger on A7.
And my third finger barred across the D, G and the B strings at the 9th fret.
So that's our E chord.
[C#m] The next chord we need is a C sharp minor chord.
Or C sharp minor 7 I [A] should say.
[G] Which is your first finger barred from the A string downwards on the 4th fret.
Second finger on B5.
[C#m] And your third finger on D6.
So that's our C sharp minor chord.
[G#] The next chord we need is a G sharp.
Which is your first finger barred across all the strings.
Second finger on
so first finger is barred across all the strings on the 4th fret.
Second finger on G5.
[G] Third finger on A6.
And your [G#] little finger just underneath it on D6.
So that's a G sharp chord.
And then [A] we're going to move it all up one fret to an A chord.
So we've got [E] E,
[C#m] C sharp minor 7, [G#] G sharp major to [A] A major.
And it pushes every [E] other chord.
So it plays the first chord for 3 and a [C#m] half beats and changes on 4 and.
[E] So it goes 1, 2, 3, 4 and 1, 2, 3, 4.
And the same idea with the next [G#] two chords.
1, 2, [A] 3, 4 and 1, 2, 3, [E] 4.
So if you put that all together it should sound like this.
[G#] [A]
[E] [C#m]
[G#] [A]
[N] And there you have it.
That's Close To Me by Ellie Goulding.
