What's up future rock stars out there?
My name is Brandon Slawinski and I'm going to teach you the simplest version possible
of Drives Incubus.
So this is a beginner's version just for you.
So we're going to start off with an E minor chord which is shaped like this and it goes
2 2 0. But instead of doing just all zeros at the bottom end we're going to put a 3 with our pinky right there. Third fret the high string. Alright and then we're going to take our ring finger and we're going to move it down a half step so it's going to sound like this. Next chord is going to be [C] a C. C's will look like this right? We're actually going to play it like this. We're going to lift up our index finger. Alright? And that's what it sounds like. Next shape is you're going to mute that first string 3 2 and 0. Alright and the next chord, [E] super simple, you're going to love this [Em] one. Just like that. It's going to be [A] mute [Em] 2 0. So let's start at the beginning. The E minor, a little half step down. [C] That open C [Em] and that open A. It's really like an open A. [C] [A]
[Em] As for the strumming pattern, you're going down down up down down [C] down up down down down [A] up. [Em] And that chord is kind of cut in half. Just kind of cut in half. [C] [Em] Make it really easy. [C] [Em]
This is really beginner strumming. Kind of just trying to let it flow out. Make it super simple for you guys. And then if you want to sing along to it, it'll go like this. [C] Whatever tomorrow [Em] brings I'll be there. With [C] open arms and [Em] open eyes yeah. [C] Whatever tomorrow [Em] brings I'll be there. On the E minor I'll be there. See? And that chord, that chord progression is also used for your verse. And the only other thing that you need to know is the [C] breakdown. Which is just regular C. Which is 3 2 1 0. And [A] then an A. That's mute 2 2 2 and 0. [A] You choose A. Water over [C] wine. C. [A] Hold the wheel and drive. 1 2 3 [Em] chorus. [C] Whatever tomorrow brings [Em] I'll be there. That's an E minor right there. And the C and the A. We've got an E minor then a [C] C then [E] A. Yeah you've [Em] got it now. Yeah you've got it [E] now. [Em] So I think you guys should really take that. Learn it. Try it for yourself. And then we're going to put up the regular version of the song. So you can learn a little bit more of an advanced version. So enjoy and have a good one.
