How to Play Copperhead Rd - Steve Earle (cover) - Easy Mandolin 3 Chord Tune chords
Start Jamming...
Hey guys, Party Marty here, Easy Guitar Tunes.
I've got another request for Steve Earle's
Copperhead Road.
Real fun tune to play.
I actually have a version of it on the acoustic
guitar on my channel as well.
You can click on the link there if you'd rather get the
six string guitar.
This is for the mandolin.
This is the same song, just a version with
the mandolin.
So I figured I'd put it on there for you guys.
This is a request from a few
subscribers and friends as well.
So let's have some fun with this one here.
I'll try
to go through it as best I can as far as the little D-lick in the song goes and then we'll
play it slow and then we'll get through it and try to do it a little faster.
So I hope
you guys enjoy this one.
Steve Earle's Copperhead Road.
The chords to it, pretty simple, just
the three chords.
[D] Chords are D, and [G] then G, and then [C] C.
[D] Again, D, [G] G, [C] and C.
[N] So now to
start it out, what I'll do is play the D really, really slow and then I'll try to explain it
as I go along.
So [D] let's give her a go.
So it's, [B] [G] [D] I don't know if you can see that or
not, [B] and then you slide it over one [Fm] fret.
[G] So [D]
again, we'll go [G] D, [Bm]
[C] [G] [D] D.
So [G]
[D] it's all the top
string.
And [G] [Dm]
[N] it's just that simple.
So, while it's not that simple, I suppose if you've
never played it before, but I'll play it a couple more times and then we'll get into
the song.
Okay [Dm] guys?
So here we go.
[G]
[D]
[G] [Bm] Fourth fret, and then the second fret again, and
then to the [D] fifth, [G] and then back to the fourth.
[D]
D.
[N] So let's give this one a go.
This is a
real fun tune to play, guys.
I hope you enjoy this [Bm] one.
Copperhead [D] Road, Steve Earle.
[G]
[D] [G] [G]
[D] [G] [C] [G] [D]
[G] [D] [G] [D]
[G] [D]
[G] [D] [G]
[D] So [G] there's a copperhead road, a copperhead road.
I've been around for about five [D] years.
About a hundred pound of leaves, there's a copper line.
[G] [D] Everybody do that paper shine.
[G] Well, I never knew where [G] old granddaddy's [D] been.
Headed up the hall with [G] everything.
All my time that I've been through, it never [E] come back from [D] Copperhead Road.
[G]
[D] [G] [D] [F] [G]
[D] Granddaddy
had red whiskey and a big black dog.
I thought that I'd lost you at the bridge, son of a
dog.
All the cashier painted on the side.
Just a shot, put a front on it, and look inside.
Well, even my uncle told me that it was a bad home.
[G] [D] I still remember that a [G]-rolling
sound.
Well, a shell came around in the middle [D] of the night.
Heard my uncle crying, said,
I'm [G] all right.
And he [C] died another [G] week or so.
You can smell the whiskey burning down
[D] Copperhead Road.
Hey, hey, hey, Copperhead Road.
Copperhead Road.
[G]
[C] [G] [D]
I loved you, boy,
on my birthday.
They drive the white-dressed cruisers right here and there.
I don't do
just duty and be a man.
I came home with a brand-new plan.
I take a C from Colombia to
Mexico
I am a man and I love a couple of hebron
[G] Well, D.L. I got a child living here, [D] wake up screaming like a black hole [G] over there
Thunder there too, child out [D] the door, better stay away from a couple of hebron
Hey, hey, hey, a couple of hebron
Couple of hebron
Couple of hebron
Couple of hebron
[Dm] [G] [D] [E] There you go, Steve Earl, couple of hebron on the [N] mandolin
