Okay, so this is a tutorial on how to play Colin Hayes' I Just Don't Think I'll Ever Get Over You.
The [G] most interesting thing to note straight away is that the guitar is in a completely
different tuning, [B] and you could probably attempt to do it in standard, [F] but it really does need to
be done this if [E] you want it to sound exactly the same.
Okay, [G] so your guitar will need to be tuned
[D] to D,
[G] to G, [C] C, F, [F]
and then [A#] two C's at the [C] bottom.
And those two C's at the bottom, when you're [F] doing
a chord like that, those C's [G] really just ring out and don't touch the whole [F] chord.
It gives that
really whole chord kind of [G] sound.
[F]
[G]
Okay, so [G#m] the song's starting, and you [G] literally have [D#] [G] your
finger on the second fret [F#] of [G] the F string.
That's [C] the
you said
[G]
[C]
[G] seven, catch on the [C] sixth, and that's the second.
And there's a little twiddly bit right [D] here, which is [G] just some cloths and hammers.
For those of you
who haven't really touched on those much, it's [F] just plucking a string [G] and hammering your finger on,
there's a hammer, and to [C] pull [G] off your plucking and then [F] pull your finger [D] off.
[F] So we pluck that
string open, [G] hammer our finger on, [F] pull it off, [E] and then we touch the fourth fret [F] on the
[C] C string, which is an unusual chord like that, just because of the tuning.
There we go.
So that's the little kind of hammer on [F] pull off thing for the intro.
Okay, so
from [G]
there it gets a little simpler.
[F] You've got your chords, which is just three, [G] five, five, [A] four.
[F]
So that's the first chord.
[G] Slide that shape up two frets, [F#] and then we go [F] to just holding the finger [C] on
the second string.
[G]
[F] So that's your [G] main
[C]
in between those is
[G] two, [E] one, two, [F] four.
[G]
The thing [C] is, we touch on the minor chord when [F] he says, really, the things that make you want to cry.
[G] Still find pieces [Am] of your presence [G] here.
When it goes [D] to zero, [A] two, four, and then they're still [F] open.
But then we go straight back to the main thing.
[G]
[F]
Okay, there are little kind of twiddly bits in the song,
like the bit where we [C] have
which is Colin's touching on the fourth fret of the second string up,
and the seventh fret [Fm] of the third [C] string up.
So we're going to slide this first finger up one,
and we slide that shape up two.
There are a couple of other twiddly bits.
[F#] I'll link to a tab
just in a bit below, but [C]
a lot of it is using the finger on the third string,
the third string up.
Slide that one up.
[F]
And that's pretty much the whole [G] reference.
