[N] Hey guys, alright we're gonna, I'm gonna show you guys the riff on Chicken Coop Blues.
So Chicken Coop Blues is a little instrumental number I wrote and it's on my Stomp record.
And it's also, I got a remix on my Sampler record and there's a live version on my live
record so it's on like almost all my records.
So you can check it out on iTunes or if you have any of my records.
Also if you go to my website you can get tabs for it so you can download those also.
But today I just want to show you a couple of the riffs because I got a lot of people
asking me how do you play Chicken Coop Blues.
So I'm just gonna show you the riffs on it and just real quick, that's nothing [Em] crazy,
nothing that hard.
But alright here we go.
So the main riff.
[E] [G] [B] [G]
[A] [E] [Am] [E]
So yeah I'm in E, I'm tuned, this guitar is tuned to E, E, B, E.
Although on my live record it's in G.
But for right now I'm in E.
You can play it in any key, it really doesn't matter.
But E kinda has that [G]
[E] good low [F] tone to it so [E] I kinda like that.
But the riff is, so you're hitting the low E open and on your top string, or the bottom
string, the [N] high E, you're sliding up to the third fret and then hitting it [E] open.
So that's the opening part.
Then you go to the middle [B] string [E]
and you're gonna just [B] walk kinda hitting it open, [Ab] third
fret, middle [D] string, [E]
[B] open, [G] [E]
[B]
middle string, third [D] fret middle string,
[Em] the high E, [B] and
the middle string open, and then slide up to [A] the third fret on the high E.
[Gb] And [E] then open.
So it goes like this.
I'll do it one more time kinda slow.
Then it has a little slide to it.
[G] So I'm just sliding up to the fifth fret.
[A] [G] [A]
[G] And [E] then open.
[G] [A]
[D] [Em]
[A] [Bb]
[D] [E]
And put a little twelfth slide down on it.
[D]
So here's the whole riff.
I'll play it slow for you.
[E]
[Em] [A]
[G] [B] [G]
[A] [Bb] [E]
[Em]
[A] [G] [E]
[G] [A] [B] [A]
[E] [D]
I'll play it at speed, just play it [E] a little faster.
[B] [E]
And then the next little [B] section is.
[E]
So it's kinda fun to play, it's a little hammer on.
So [D] you're doing the middle [B] string open, and you're touching the third fret.
[D]
[Bb] Bend it a little bit.
[E] And then go to the high E.
Just [Bm] kinda repeat that.
[E]
So [B] it's open middle, [Ab] then fret that third fret on the [D] middle string, then the [E] high E.
[Em] And then you slide up to the fifth fret.
[G] Fifth fret, third fret, then open.
[E]
[Em] So [E] it's.
[E]
[G] Then to end it, you pull off on the low E, on the third fret, you pull up on it.
[E]
Get [G] it going.
[E] So it's something like.
So that's another part.
And then it just does a little walking part where it walks up the neck.
So you kinda just.
[Gb]
[E] [G] [Bb] [A]
[Em] [B] [Dbm]
[A] [Eb] [E]
[Am] So put it all together and it [E] goes something like this.
[Em] [E]
[Am] [E]
[A] [E]
