How to Play "Brandy" by Looking Glass on Guitar chords
Start Jamming...
Hi, how you doing?
[D#] I want to show you how I play Brandy by looking glass.
Let's see, first the [C#m] introduction.
[A]
[C#m] [A] [E] [B]
[A] [E] [F#m] [B] [D] Alright, let's see, start out on [C#m] a C sharp minor 7.
I like to throw a hammer on in there [E] to make it a regular C sharp minor.
Kind of imitates that guitar part in the beginning.
[A] Then you go into A, [C#m] [A] [E] G, [B] B, [A] A, [G#m] E with [E] G sharp in the bass, [F#m] F sharp minor, [B] and then B, B major.
Now the E with [G#] G sharp in the bass, if you don't know it, that's the third finger on the fourth fret sixth string.
Your fifth string you mute with the side of your third finger, just lean it over a little bit.
Your first finger goes on the fourth string second fret.
Your [B] pinky goes on the third string fourth fret, that's a B.
And then you have [E] open B and E at the end here.
Hurti chord.
[C#m] Alright, so again, C sharp minor.
[E] [A] [C#m]
[A] [E] [B] [A] [E]
[F#m] [B] [N] Okay, then the verse.
[E] There's [B] a port on [C#m] the western [A] bay, and it serves a [A] hundred ships a day, [E] lonely [B] sailors [C#m] pass the town bay [A] and talk about [E] their home.
[N] Okay, now the verse, I try to imitate the keyboard that's on the recording.
Let's see, start [E] on E, [B] go to B, and then I do a bar right here on the fourth fret.
And I play the middle four strings on it.
And then just [C#m] lay my fingers down into a C sharp [B] minor.
[C#m] [F#m] Now what [B] this really is, is actually a B with C [F#] sharp in the bass.
Okay, kind of like an anticipation of the next [B] chord.
[C#m] And [A] then I do an A, and then I put my pinky down here on the F sharp, that's the second fret first string.
That makes it an A6, and I take it back off again.
[D] And then I go D, and [A] back to A.
[E] And then I repeat, E, [B] B, [A] [B] bar four, which is the B with C sharp in the bass.
[C#m] And C sharp minor, [A] A, B.
[E] So again, I [B] guess [F#m] [C#m] [G] [A] [A]
[Em] [B] [B] [C#m] [A] [E] I should say something about the right hand [D#] in there.
When you listen to the [E] recording, it has this thing, [B] try to imitate the keyboard [C#m] one.
[A] [D] [A] [E]
[B] [C#m] [A] [E] Okay, the next verse.
And there's a [B] girl in [C#m] this harbor [G] town,
[A]
[A] And they're whisking down, they [E] say [B] Brandy,
Pushing down [C#m] a little mound, [A] serves them [E] whiskey and wine.
The [C#m] sailors say, Brandy, [A] you're a fine girl, [C#m] what a good [A] wife you'd be.
Yeah, your [E] eyes could steal [B] a sailor from [A] the sea.
[F#m] [B] [Bm] Okay, and that was the chorus.
Starting on C sharp, the sailors say, Brandy, [C#m] sailors say, Brandy, [A] you're a fine girl.
[C#m] That's A, back to C sharp minor again.
Good [A] wife, back to A, you would be, [E] E.
And your eyes [B] could steal a sailor, that's a B, and [D] then to A.
Okay, and then you do that walk down thing from [A] the introduction and from the chorus.
[E] [F#m]
[B] Continuing on, let's see.
[E] Brandy [B] wears a [C#m] braided chain, [A] like the finest silver [D] from the [A] northern land.
[E] They [B] lock it, and it [C#m] bears the [A] name of the man that [E] Brandy loved.
He [B] came, [C#m] [G] he [A] kissed, [D] he [A] walked far away, [E] but he made [F#m] it clear, [C#m] he couldn't stay.
[A] No harbor was [E] his home.
The sailors [C#m] say, Brandy, [A] you're a fine girl, [C#m] what a good wife [A] you'd be.
[E] But my life, my [B] love, my lady, [A] is at [E] sea.
[F#m] [B]
[A] And then we have the [D] bridge.
[C#m] Goes from C sharp minor [B] to B, [A] to A, [B] back to B, [C#m] back to C sharp minor again.
Kind of like Stairway to Heaven in C sharp minor.
[B] [A] [C#m] Let's see, now.
Brandy used to [B] watch [A] as Ivan told his sailor [B] story.
[C#m] She'd feel the ocean [B] floor rise, [A] she saw its raging [B] glory.
[C#m] She had [D] always told the truth [C#m] of the Lord.
[A]
[E] Brandy does [B] her best to [A] understand.
[E] [F#m] [B]
[D] Got that?
Let's see, C sharp, B, A, B.
[B] [A] [B] [C#m] That's wise.
[B] [B] [C#m] And then here is, he had [D] always told, that's a D, told the truth [C#m] of what he was.
The [A] honest man, C sharp to A, [E] and E, [B] D, and then our walk down.
[A] [E] A, D with G sharp in the bass, [F#m] sharp [B] minor, and B.
Okay, [Em] let me finish it up.
At night, [B] when the fog [C#m] goes [A] down, Brandy [D] walks through the [A] silent [E] town.
[B] Loves a man [C#m] who's not [A] around, she still can't forget him [E] say,
He'll say, [C#m] Brandy, you're [A] a fine girl, what [C#m] a good wife [A] you've been.
Hope [E] my life, my love, [B] my lady, [A] is a [E] scene.
[F#m] [B] [E] That's how you play, well that's how I play, [N] Brandy.
Thanks for watching, I hope that helps you.
Take care now.
