How to Play "Blue Ridge Mountains" by Fleet Foxes chords
Start Jamming...
I'm drone diamond and this is how you play Blue Ridge Mountains by Flea Foxes from their
Debut album I I made this video a long time ago
I thought I had it up, but I didn't and now I can't even find it
So this is a redo of [Gb] it and the tuning for this is standard, [Db] but double drop D
So you drop this down to a D?
Hi you down to a D
[N] Okay, and the capo goes on the sixth fret
But I'm tuned down half a [F] step so I'll put it on the seventh the first shape of the song is um
it's kind of similar to a
D minor except two fingers are switched.
So put my middle finger on the second fret third string
pointer finger on the first fret
Second string and a ring finger on the third fret first string.
[Abm]
This is the intro part
then the second chord will just be
[F] Slide your ring finger down to the [Db] second fret first string
[Abm] That's it.
[Eb]
And then [F] the third chord is it's kind of like an F.
[Gb] It's a
ring finger third [F] fret fourth string
[Bb]
Second fret third string first [Ebm] fret second string then back [Fm] here
[Eb] So it's gonna look like this the intro [Abm] and
[Db] [B] [Eb]
[Abm] [Db]
then when [F] you start strumming and doing the verse it's kind of the same thing.
[Abm] So
[Bbm] [Abm]
[Fm] [Abm] [Ebm]
[Abm] Oprah tell me [B] when you let go [Gb] tonight.
[B] I heard that you miss your [Abm] connecting [Fm] flight
to the [Dbm] Blue Ridge Mountains
So this chord when he goes the Blue Ridge Mountains
[Eb] you're barring the third fret but
You're gonna put a finger on the fifth fret [Db] sixth string [Eb] and then you want to mute this fifth string
[Db] so
You can either bar the whole thing and it'll kind of mute it or just bar these four [E] strings
[Db] See that's muted
[Dbm] to the Blue Ridge Mountains
Over in [Abm] Tennessee
[Bbm]
[Abm] [Bbm] [Dbm]
[Abm] Yeah,
[Bbm] [Abm] and then the second part is you're welcome with me [B] anytime you [Bbm] like
Let's go [Gb] to the countryside
[B] Leave [Eb] behind two green eyes [Dbm] look alike
So no one gets [Abm] worried now
[Eb] [Dbm] So no one
gets worried
[Abm] No, [Bbm] and [B] [Db] [Em]
now the [Gb] power goes Sean [Dbm] don't get careless
[Fm] Get
[Ab] careless I
Play it like this you bar [F] the second fret first second and third [Gb] strings and then you fret the fourth fret [Ab] first string
Some people have [Gb] it where you also fret the fourth [Cm] string fourth fret
But I don't [Gb] think it makes it sound that much better or even better [Ab] period.
It's just different.
So
[Dbm]
[Bb] [Cm] Get
Careless, [Dbm] there's that or show [Ab] don't get
Careless it's barely a difference and [Gb] you're gonna play that part pretty softly too.
[Dbm] I'm sure it'll [Ab] be fine
[Gb]
Then it goes to just a C chord
[Abm] And [Abm] I [Gb] do my um
B-flat for this pointer finger on the
fifth string first fret and then a ring finger on the fourth string third fret
The pinky on the second string third [E] fret
[Ebm] Now it's just [E] half of a C chord kind of an a minor [Gb] so it's a C [Eb] chord but without your ring finger
[Fm] [Eb] open third string
[Gb] So it's um again that whole part [Dbm] is
[Ab] [Dbm] I'm sure [Abm] it'll be fine
[Ab] [Gb]
I love you, [Dbm] I [Db] love you
[Ebm] Older brother
[E] of mine
then then comes [Em] the whole chorus part and
[Abm]
It's just this B flat thing.
But what you can do to kind of simulate that riff [Eb] is um, put your middle finger [Em] on the
second fret third [Abm] string so
And then take it off.
[E] [Abm]
[E] [Gb] You don't have to do it.
Just it's a nice [E] embellishment
Forest
[Gb] With a shivering [Dbm] dog rest.
[G] I don't know the words.
[Gb] It's a C chord
[Db] [E]
And the last [G] chord is it's kind of a [Gb] CF hybrid [B] thingy
[Eb] It's um you bar
So it's a ring finger there sixth string third fret
Underneath fifth string third [Ab] fret and then skip a string and then your [Gb] middle finger on the second fret third string and
pointer finger on
[B] first fret second string
in the morning
[Ab]
[E] In the shivering
[Eb] Where the [Gb] quivering dog rest [Abm] I [E] would do in my
[B] In the morning
And [Ebm]
then
[B] Terrible in my
[Ebm]
[Dbm] It's that G minor thing again to the a minor thing [Dbm] even if you don't mind
[Gb]
[E]
[Gb] I was
[Bb] [E] In
[Db] [B]
That's a little song [F] now you just need you [E] know, three friends who can sing and
[Eb] Guitar player sky and you know, you could play the song so it's pretty simple drop D tuning capo six fret
