How to play Blackwater Park by Opeth on guitar chords
Start Jamming...
[Em] [A] [E] [F]
[A] [Eb]
[E] [F]
[G] [A] [Eb]
Hey, hey, what's up guys Mike goes here rocking guitar since calm that's opeth
With Blackwater Park per request of steady art good request killer song
Drop D tune and let's start it it starts with fret 7 on the a
You're gonna pick and hammer on to the 8th fret [Fm] so we have
And then go back to that 7th fret
You're gonna pick it again hammer on to 8 pull off back to 7 and slide it a whole step flat to 5
[E] [D] And [Em] then open a after that so we have
[A] Actually [F] beat wise [D] it's
[A] And [N] then have some really like these are some cool chords man
And I love it when bands do stuff like this in a metal element or a rock element
It breaks you out of the power cord power cord mold and power chords are great
But after a while you you know for me
I try to experiment with getting some different chord voicings going on and they nailed it
I hope it's nailed it with this one for a 6d
for G open B open E
You're gonna go and you want to kind of take the syntax finger and tuck it underneath the low e to where it music
Because you're strumming this in the fashion of an acoustic that type of vibe
So you want to mute the low e or you're gonna wind up hitting it.
It's gonna go down [A] up down up
[Db] [G] Then a [Db] fret hand mute so
[E] Go [A]
[Em] down up with a [Am] fret hand mute.
That's [Dbm] Okay
[C] Then go down up down [Eb] up down up down up [E] down up after that
[Ab] That's [E] the beat for every chord now so move over here to 3 e 2 G and 3 B
Do [N] the exact same thing now when you fret hand mute you've got some opens you got to compensate for so just lay your [Em] fingers
off on the side
Rather than lift everything up and then have to jump back.
Okay, so
If you if you [Bb] angle them, right, you can just lay them a little flatter, you know, so do the same beat
[F] So
[G] we have
[A] [Dbm]
[F] [Bb] Then go to a minor.
This is 2d [C] 2g and [G] 1b
do the same beat but
After the first strum that you do down you're gonna lift your index off that makes it a a 2 chord
But [Am] it's still the same beat
[E] [C] See my pinky went for the fret hand [A] you know that
[Gb] and then [Eb] this chord here
[E] And this tuning it's an [C] augmented 1e [E] 2a 1d and then you got those [Eb] opens
And then [G] you just start it back over at the chord.
So it only the [F] intro
[D] [A] Which [B] it's only a few notes, but it's so melodic when you hear
The chord progression that I just taught you with it.
So dude or chick
Great request from open
Someone called Blackwater Park if you have any questions on it
Let me know leave in the comment section or of either part the video lesson or the [N] regular comment section and I'll clear it up
for you make sure your drop D to under these chords are not going to sound right and
That's it as far as this song is concerned take your time these chords make sure the notes are clear
You got to work on the fret hand mutes you guys it's a big part to playing man
It may it's the difference between a clean what I'll call a
Karaoke style player and someone that knows what they're doing.
It's the little things do matter
All right, so um and be sure to subscribe once you've subscribed to my channel
Send me your favorite song requests
And I will get them to you the way these bands are actually playing I will get the tunings right for you the strings
The frets all that that way when the guitar player quits you can join and they won't even know the difference except the way you
So and you can work on that too if you want to look like whoever you know
It'd be cool if I won't look like buckethead because you can just put a bucket on your head
You know there's no facial features.
You know that type of thing you catch my drift
Two things three things actually the ultimate beginners guide DVD that I have is ready
