[A] Hi [N] everyone, my name is Damian Bacci and today I'm going to show you how to play the Better
Call Saul intro.
Now when I first watched the very first episode of Better Call Saul and I heard that little
guitar intro, I was kind of blown away.
I was like, wow, that's really cool sounding, very vintage, very retro sounding.
And I was going over it in my head, how to play it, and I just thought it was really
cool and I did some digging and found out that the band that made the intro is called
Little Barry and they're really cool.
They're from England and they're just a cool band to check out.
So check them out if you haven't.
Anyway [C#m] enough of this, let's start learning the intro.
Let's do it.
Alright, now to play this quick little intro, we're going to be playing an A chord first like [A] this.
Alright, if you don't know how to play that, A chord is played like this.
Seventh fret on the D string, sixth fret on [C#] the G string, and your [Em] B and E string are
going to be fifth [A] fret.
Now when you first strum the chord, [N] you're going to depress on your Bigsby tremolo arm
or whammy bar, whatever you have there, whatever you're calling it.
[A] You're going to play it just like this.
And then give it a little bit of a shake.
[E] Just like that.
Okay, here's another angle of that, depressing of the [A] Bigsby.
[E] Okay?
Okay, so [A] let's play that A chord.
Depress on the Bigsby, give it a little shake.
[C] Then we're going to do this part.
[C#m]
[C] Alright and what we're doing there is we're sliding from the fifth fret on the G string
[E] to the ninth fret on [Am] the G string.
[C#m] We're going to have our fingers barred here on the ninth fret of the E, B, and G string.
So you can just play the E, B, G, [Em] just like that on the ninth [C] fret.
[C#m]
[A] Okay, so let [C]
me go to the C chord, play it just like we [D] did the A [A] chord.
We're playing [C] a C.
Alright, so we've [A]
[C#m] got
[C] Alright and here's the next [Am] part.
[G#] [Am] Okay now to do this part, what we're doing is we have our fingers on the fourteenth fret
on the G string, thirteenth fret on the B string, and twelfth fret on the E string.
Just rake that.
[C#]
And what we're doing is [E] playing on the fifteenth fret on the B string [C] to the thirteenth [Am] fret
on the B string.
And you give a little bend.
[D] [A#] Just like that.
[Bm]
Fifteenth fret to [D] the thirteenth fret on the [Am] B string.
[C]
[F] Alright so [A] so far we've [C#m] got
[C] [A]
Alright, let me go back to the A chord.
Okay, [C] and then we do this again.
[C#m] [E] Now the only thing we're changing here this time, it's a little bit different.
Everything's the same [G#] except we're doing this.
[C#m] [E] Instead of playing the ninth fret on the G string, we're playing the twelfth fret on the
G string [G#] this time.
And giving a slight little bend.
[C#m] [C#] [E]
So it's
And then we play the low E twice.
Okay?
[Em] [C#m] So it's
[E] Okay?
[F] Now you're ready for the next part.
Okay now here's the last part of the intro.
It's gonna be another rake [D] again.
[D#] [C] [D] [A]
[D#] [D] [E] [D] [Am] Just [A] [C] ends like that.
[G#] And you know, it goes to commercial.
[A] Really you're going back to the A chord.
Or back here [G#] you start all over again [G] and it just keeps on [N] repeating.
Okay so what we're doing here on this rake, I'm raking the [D] D string, [G] the G string, and
[E] the B string.
I've got my finger on the fifth fret there.
[A] [D#]
[D] [E] So [A] it's
[D] [Am]
[G] So what I'm doing is just going fifth fret on the B string, [D#] fourth fret on the B [D] string,
third fret on the B string.
[A] [D] [A] And then I'm gonna play on the G string, the fifth fret, [D#] [D] give a little bit [Cm] of a bend.
[A]
[D] [N] Okay?
And then on the D string, I'm gonna [D#] play the first fret and the second fret.
[E]
Like [D#] that.
[Dm] And then on the B string, I'm gonna play [C] the first fret [D] and the [E] third fret.
[D] [D#] [D] [D#]
[C] [Dm] Alright?
[N] Alright?
And then on the A string, I'm gonna play [A] open [C]
to the third fret.
[A] [Em] Back to open.
And [A] that's [C] [A] basically
Just go back to the A chord or A right here.
[C] [A]
[C] [D] [Am] [A] Alright and that's all.
[G] Well thanks for joining me today and I want to thank you for watching.
