Hey, what's up everyone?
This is Mike Gross at youtube.com slash mg3 guitar lessons.
That
was Skid Row with 18 and Life.
That's part of the top 50 greatest guitar riffs.
I don't
have any Skid Row in there.
And what a cool song that is, huh?
So I want to show you guys
the intro on that.
They're playing it on an electric, but we're doing acoustic because
it's the clean channel, so it'll sound similar.
Also, really quick, I wanted to throw out
there, I have an HD channel.
By the time you see this instructional video, it's already
up, but it's not necessarily running in the sense that there's no HD lessons on it yet.
Like I said, by the time you see this, there will be, within a day or two, you'll have
some HD videos.
And you can find that one at youtube.com slash rockin, that's r-o-c-k-i-n,
guitar lessons, the number one.

I also have a website coming, guys, and that's going to be a good treat for all
of you.
I appreciate you guys.
We're going to jump right into this.
I believe this is
standard tuning.
This first chord is a barre chord, and it's called C sharp minor.
[G] Cover
the fourth fret with your first [N] finger on the A string through the high E.
You don't
need the low E.
If you can't get your barre chords clear, start with just a barre like
that.
And then we're going to do what I say is an A minor shape in front of it.
So if
you know your A minor chord, probably different fingers than you would normally use, but you
go 5B with your middle finger, 6G with your pinky, and 6D with your third finger.
So step
number one to this, guys, is to play from the [C#m] A string down to the B.
[C#] We don't [E] need
the high E string in this [G] at all.
So it's kind [B] of good if you're not really comfortable
with barre chords, but it's switching to a barre.
So [C#m] let's jump into this.
A, D, G, B.
Those [Bm] should be clear.
[C#m] The way you play it is A, B, G, D.
[A] You can down pick [C#] all that,
or if you [A] want to go down, up, [B] up, up, it's fine, but it's not a fast picking progression,
so it really doesn't [G] matter here.
It's not going to [C#m] change the feel of it in this.
Then
lift [F#m] your minor chord shape off of there.
[N] Take those three fingers off, leave the barre,
and go B, G, D, A.
[B]
Actually, [C#m] B, G, D, A, and [C#m] then go back and start it over.
[B]
[C#m] [F#] [C#m] [B] So it's [N] three
times of that, and then we move over to what's called an A2, which is first finger 2D, middle
finger 2G.
What you want to do with that is a pretty simple chord, especially considering
coming from that C sharp minor barre chord.
This is going to be a lot easier.
It doesn't
get much easier than this.
It's a cool sounding [A] chord.
So go [E] A, B, and then strum the [A] G, B,
and the high E.
[E] Then [F#] we're going to go to [G#] the [G] B2 chord, which you're going to go first
[N] finger.
Basically, it's moving that other chord up a whole step sharp.
First finger
2A, third finger 4D, pinky, [E] 4G.
Do the same strings on [B] that.
So it's A, D, [Em] and then strum
G, B, and E.
[A#] So if you [A] played those, you would have this.
[B] [Em] [A] Good subgroup right there, actually.
[B] [A] [B] [E] [B] That wraps it up for the intro to Skid Row.
[N] There's more to that.
I've got a website coming
real, real soon.
There'll be some cool offers for you guys.
You can peek around the site
and do all that stuff.
I won't go into detail on that yet, but [G#m] it's going to be very cool.
