How to make a nice organ sound on Yamaha Tyros chords
Start Jamming...
Here's a really good way to make a nice organ sound.
OK, we're going to start off by ensuring we only have one selection of voices.
So if we go across to the voice part select, make sure just one right section is on and the green button is on above it.
OK.
From there we want to choose the organ flutes.
There's a button here with a square around it called organ flutes.
Now the organ flutes button is going to give you drawbars on the screen.
And these are, a lot of the old organs would have had drawbars, typically Hammond organs.
And these drawbars relate to the footages, the big pipes on something like a church organ where all the pipes are different sizes.
And you have footages which are what are called pure footages, 16, 8, 4, 2, 1.
And then you have some with fractions.
To simplify it we want to use the pure footages.
So we'll get rid of the 5 and a third.
We'll get rid of the 2 and two thirds and all these and just leave 16, 8 and 4.
And we'll have just a tiny bit of number 2.
So we've got the 16 foot pipe, the 8 foot pipe, the 4 foot pipe [Em] and a little bit of the 2 foot pipe.
And that will give us [Dm] [Am] [Gb]
[Am] quite a nice sound but it's still quite sharp and has a lot of attack, sort of [Abm] poppiness to the sound.
So if we go across to volume attack, we want to get rid of that poppiness.
And if you look there's these two, [Am] these are the attack buttons and we want to get rid of those.
And this is what they do.
[Gm] There's a bit of a bite to those sounds.
And when we put those back it gets rid of the percussive sound.
We can also make it softer by this RESP button.
If we put that fully down, listen to the difference.
It gets rid of all that attack and makes [Am] it really soft and mellow.
By adding the rotary speaker we get a nice fast spinning Leslie effect.
That's nice.
[Eb]
[Dm] [N] Now finally across on the panel over here we have a sustain button.
If we hit that, some of you may do it on the pedal but if we do it with the [A] button on there we'll now get sustain.
[C] And it will just linger a little bit longer.
[A] [C]
So we've now got a nice soft sound.
[B]
[F] [B] Let's [Am]
try that in a song.
